MATT'S AUTO SVC

Matt said that that some sensors had to be replaced for the car to pass inspection. In addition to the sensors, he said that the car needed a battery and the intake gasket needed to be replaced. He said that the car should pass inspection after these repairs. He told me by phone the total for the repairs was going to be $1000. When I picked the car up the bill was $1400. Matt said that he never told me that the cost would be $1000. He was not able to get a sticker for it because the car needed to be driven more miles. I waited about 2 weeks to get a sticker because the car is just used around town. The day that I went to get the sticker the service engine light came on. I called Matt and brought the car back the next week. Matt now told me that the car needed a catalytic converter ($553). He did not remember that my wife mentioned the catalytic converter to him and had no record of it in his notes.
Before the repairs  I asked Matt if he thought if it was worth fixing the car since it is 11 years old. He said the car was running well. I would not have fixed the car if I knew it would cost over $2000. The repairs that he recommended that had nothing to due to car inspection was the bulk of the expense.
