The Maids

When we moved to Worcester I felt uncomfortable hiring a private cleaner without a personal reference, so we hired the Maids because they are insured/bonded and the company is fairly well known. The level of cleaning is good-to-great, but definitely not exceptional. For example, they don't move the sofas to vacuum underneath them, and sometimes I find dustballs still left around electrical cords like they didn't bother to move things to clean under/around them. Honestly I would be fine with this level of cleaning if their prices were more reasonable and they were more flexible! We live in a moderate sized, single floor 3 bedroom apartment and they don't even clean all the rooms (we have them skip 2 of the bedrooms) and their prices are still higher than most private cleaners. Also, the management does not allow flexibility in asking for different areas to be cleaned (ie, could you skip the master bedroom and clean the office this week) - there is an extra fee (by the hour) if you ever want this done. And if you ever need to move the cleaning day around be prepared to wait a whole week for them to come. The cleaners themselves are wonderful women and I've always felt safe having them in our home. We are looking for another cleaning service because of high pricing and inflexible schedules/cleaning policies.

They had four employees come out. They were here for a little over two hours. They were prompt and professional. They were excellent cleaners. They have you check it before they leave.

Verbal quote with detailed description of home provided prior to cleaning: $320 to $560 for a 4 person crew: $40/hour, estimate of 2-31/2 hour job. House empty with no furniture, 2 floors, total 2,780 sq feet, built 2008. There was no need for flooring washing since the floors were being professionally steam cleaned the next day. Crew arrived on time as promised but only 3 people. Called provider, spoke with Jack, he insisted that crew was sufficient and had no other job for that day. Crew leader spoke very poor English and other 2 members did not appear to speak English at all. Kitchen: Appears that same cleaning product used on all surfaces, wood, glass, stainless steel, granite. Glass door on lighted kitchen cabinet smeared- the door looked better prior to service, stainless steel refrigerator doors marbled with cleaning product; range top burners not cleaned. Range hood smeared with cleaning product. Bathrooms: water fixtures left with dirt at base. Whirlpool tub had vents with orange discoloration that was pointed out as uncleanable by crew leader.. Vacuuming not done well, appeared that equipment provided to crew was not up to task or not working well. One crew member worked very quickly and thoroughly while other two members appeared to socialize. Also ate lunch and left take out containers plus personal hygiene products with very large bag of trash. No idea where balance of trash came from since there were no trash bins or waste baskets in house. Some jobs done very well: window sills were spotless, toilets very clean, laundry room well done. It was easy to remedy the issues: a small brush cleaned out the soap scum on the bath fixtures and a spray of cleaner with a small brush cleaned the whirlpool tub vents. The cleaning crew did not seem to have small crevice brushes or other similar cleaning tools. The next day the carpet and tile cleaning company showed a large amount of pet hair and dirt vacuumed prior to the steam cleaning. Best estimate of work value $300 to $400.

They do a great job, this particular franchise is excellent, and we are very pleased with all aspects of working with them, including the office personal and cleaning personal.

Initial interview with The Maids included a very detailed set of questions about our house; how many rooms, square footage, what types of flooring was in each room, etc. Based on my answers, I was given a quote of $400.00. (4 workers, $40 per hour each, 2.5 hours). When the team of 5 came, the home office called and said the estimate was now $600! When I ask "why" they said because "there's a lot of dust, and a also the kitchen and bathrooms." I dropped a room from the cleaning and they said $400-500. Fine, at least it will be a really good job, right? No. Their "deep clean" service only went as "deep" as the surface. Carpets vacuumed and cabinets wiped, yes. Drawers and cabinet doors inside? No. I was very disappointed. For $500 I expect a really amazing clean! This was no better than my old weekly service which cost just $80 a week. Now I have to spend all evening before my open house doing the deep cleaning they didn't do. See pictures.

They charged $170 an hour and came with a group of 4 people and said they clearly understood what was expected. They spent 3 hours at the condo and my husband and I ended up having to spend another hour each because they did not clean the washer and dryer room, did not clean one bath, did not vacuum, did not clean the fans, missed some shelves that really needed cleaning (they obviously did the easy ones), did not clean any of the walls and left awful marks in the sinks.

They did a very good job and did not charge any more, even though the cleaning took a lot longer than they initially expected. They have been very receptive as we have had to move the day they come more than once. The quality is good and they are very fast as they come with a team of 3 or 4 cleaners. They guarantee there work and you can have a re-clean with in 24 hours if you are not satisfied.

The cleaning team did an excellent job. The leader asked for a walk through. Although she didn't speak English well (the regular team leader was out sick), she understood enough as I showed her what I wanted. The team of 3 people took an organized approach to cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen, vacuuming and dusting. At the end, the leader put me on the phone with someone from the office who asked me if the cleaning met my expectations.

The Maids Home Services provide an excellent team of housecleaners. They also have a great customer service department and you get your questions and requests answered quickly. The work they do is very good and they're fast.

They still continue to do a great job!

I have a big house so The Maids really do quite a bit of work for me. They do it with a smile and they charge me a reasonable price each time they come. I have never had a bad experience using The Maids and I would certainly give others the thumbs up to use them in my local area.

I called initially to set up a "move out" clean, and they could accommodate, but not on the date I needed. I called back a few days later when I learned that our closing had been moved up and they changed other clients around to accommodate me! Very wonderful!
