Magee Restorations

Maggee Restoration is an excellent painting, roofing and repair/restoration contractor, in fact the best I've come across in 40 years of home ownership. First of all, Shawn Maggee is very knowledgeable and experienced. He knows how the work should be done and does it properly. He does not like to cut corners. His small crew is very good and chosen from people who take pride in their work. Also one doesn't mind having them around for a couple weeks during the work because they are courteous, prompt, dependable, efficient, precise and very neat. Care is taken not to disrupt adjacent areas and clean-up is always thorough.

The repair work done on my rotted areas was meticulous and done with fine workmanship in a very efficient and workmanlike manner. The carpentry workers are very skilled and meticulous.

Shawn has extensive experience on many high end houses and his recommendations regarding color choices, placement of accent colors is very helpful. My wife appreciated his insights and opinions. For the paint job, the house was scraped of loose paint, power washed, all siding was lightly sanded and wiped with a tack cloth and painted with two coats on all suffices. The result is spectacular to the point that I now admire my house each day! The reason it looks so good is because Shawn's painting crew is incredibly patient and precise with both the prep work and the application of the paint. Their steady hands and patience makes a big difference. This house had many nooks and crannies and much detailed accent work and one cannot find any mistakes. I believe I have a 10 year paint job with perhaps minor touch up from time to time over the years.

Finally, Maggee also restored a mahogany deck that had been improperly finished by another contractor. It now looks great and adds to the overall look of the house again.

Regarding price Maggee Restoration is both competitive and fair. I had two other estimates, one from a large commercial firm that competed based on price and another local contractor focused on house painting. No one was as thorough or as knowledgeable as Maggee and all were within a couple thousand dollars of each other but Maggee had the most thorough understanding of the details of the job. I think he remains competitive while providing superior results by keeping his overhead low, hiring highly skilled efficient workers who take pride in their work and keeping the team relatively small.

Overall, I'm glad I accidentally discovered Maggee Restoration, I rate them A++ and certainly recommend people consider them for similar work.

Everything went very well.  I am proud to entertain on my new Deck now . The crew was very professional and courteous.  They properly tarped my flowerbeds and there is not a single paint chip to be found anywhere! Although the weather threw off the time frame a little bit they efficiently worked early and late on good weather days to get the job done. 

I cant recommend  Shawn Magee from Magee Restoration enough. If you are considering a painting / restoration project give him a call, I think he does free estimates and you will find out for yourself that he is the man for the job.

The workers showed up first thing in the am and worked all day each day until the job was completed. They worked hard and did a great job!

They did a great job. They cleaned up well after themselves everyday. They were done in two and half days and they also brought all their own materials. They are very responsive and they were very quick in regards to the work they did. I was amazed at how quickly they got the work done.

For the most part it went well. Main complaint was that they didn't use drop clothes very well when preparing and thus had lots of paint chips all over. They also dumped some paint chips in woods which they should not have done.

Mr. Magee respond promptly to our call, and arrived that afternoon to give us an estimate. His price was higher than two other estimates, but we had the impression that he would be a neat and meticulous worker. The work was done efficiently and in a timely manner. The work was neatly done, and the workers arrived early and stayed late. Additional carpentry was added for a reasonable price. There is a small deck that still awaits a second coat of paint (several months later); on the other hand, he has yet to charge us for a window replacement. I expect that both will be taken care of when he's in the area again. In all, we were very pleased with the result.

Selected company based on references that said they did an excellent job on finding/repairing all rotten wood problems, and not try to just paint over them. Took six days to complete, and they used new composite type wood when replacing areas that were prone to rot due to locations (ex. under front door). They were the highest priced of all estimates, but references were good. Despite that I selected them because I wanted to ensure all repairs were found and done right
