I cannot say enough about J Serven & Son Construction. I had always wanted to remodel my kitchen and my bathroom in my condo - it has old world charm and I am very particular about the kind of things I want done. I also know it is not easy to find a contractor who is trustworthy, reliable and someone who works with a set budget, Well I found him what an amazing experience! I honestly didn't think it was possible but J Serven and Sons Construction had all of the qualifications that you usually only can hope for. I felt as if I was family he could not be more patient and truly cared about what I was trying to accomplish. He installed a beautiful kitchen floor a white washed barn wood, installed new countertops and made some amazing suggestions for a back splash which I am in love with. My new cabinets that go all the way up to the ceiling are like something out of House & Garden magazine, the job was perfection. in my bathroom I now have a vanity that he designed and installed with a vision I had after looking in Elle Decor a true match for one that cost thousands - he was able to redesign again working within my budget! with legs that are perfect and faucet fixtures that are perfect - His attention to detail is second to none - his craftsmanship and most importantly pride in the work he performs is so evident in the finished product - Thank you J Serven & Sons I cannot say enough!!! my kitchen and bath dreams have come true thanks to you! As expected, I was not disappointed. John has worked on my home for the last 12 years and has always maintained a certain level of professionalism not always found in contractors today. From installing new clapboards to replacing windows throughout (not one window was the same size). I live in a house that was built in 1848 and for anyone who has any work done, you know that nothing is what it seems to be! John and his crew always handled everything very calmly. Nothing was ever to difficult to change. I would recommend J. SERVEN AND SON for any home improvement needs. I have another project in mind in the not to distant future and hope that he will be available to fit me into his schedule.

He broke the toilet which worked fine and didn't replace it. He didn't get a work permit for the job. He kept asking for additional money when the contractual commitments were not met. For instance, asking for money when the contract stated that the tile floor, closet and plumbing was to be completed before the next check even though none of it was done. He was going to hook up the new tub when I noticed that neither drain lined up to the new tub. I was worried about the tub later leaking. I was worried that a plumber needed to look at it. He also said that I would be without a shower for only 1-2 days and it was 3 weeks.
He consistently left the work area messy with exposed wires in the hallway (not in the bathroom) and the bathroom door left in the middle of my living room. He wouldn't even pick up the vanity at the store telling me to read the contract that I'm supposed to get the vanity not him. The ceiling light was installed on the wrong switch and then installed wrong so on is down and off is up?? Basically, I had to hire a plumber and electrician to fix everything that was done. The worst experience ever.

"We tried to work with and make this customer happy. In a 3 day period we Demoed the existing bathroom, installed new sub floor with dura rock, framed a new closet, installed new tub, installed blue board and green board to walls and ceiling, re installed a new fan/light unit with venting, disconnected a heat lamp, re connected a new GFI outlet, vanity light with switch, plastered walls, closet and ceiling, took all debris to the dump.This customer missed a scheduled payment for the 2nd time I spoke with (deleted member name) on wednesday Eve. while accompanied by my employees, she went on to say that she was happy wityh the work we completed and that she would leave a check on Thursday morning for materials. 1/2 hr ride to her house only to not receive a check. Got back to my office at 8 only to receive a 20 minute message saying how she was happy with the work we did and this is not personal, however she had talked to her Dad and they decided they would not pay me until the job was complete. Wednesday when we spoke I discussed that my daughter was graduating from College on Friday morning and that I needed to tile the Bathroom Thursday morning so my crew could install on friday and wrap things up. On Sunday I received an E mail from (deleted member name) To stay away from her home and do not Call her After 30 yrs of business this was a clear message that this person did not want to pay me for the services rendered. at this time I am out of pocket $2,200."

His services was great; I could tell that he used top notch products. He and his crew were considerate of us, and our neighbors; they always came at the same time, left at the same time, and cleaned up after themselves. My wife and I were shocked when the bathroom was completed; it was just an unbelievable transformation. Our friends and family still compliment how nice the bathroom looks. You can tell that John Serven has had a lot of experience in construction and remodeling; the work that he did was so professional, and only a highly skilled craftsmen could complete something like our bathroom! We were very satisfied!
