Classic Construction

We dismissed Classic from the job a little more than halfway through.  I am not satisfied with their work and wouldn't hire them or recommend them.

Its possible that I'm just particular.  If you are a picky engineer like me, they'll be tough to handle.  If not, you might get a good deal on the work you want done and never know the difference. 

Here are some of my experiences:

• They deviated from our kitchen plans without talking to us first (extra spacers installed, dimensions were off by 3/8" in some pretty critical areas, wrong color spacer glued to cabinets...)
• They placed an outlet directly in the way of what would have later been window trim - and they cut through a king stud to wedge it in there.
• They said they'd installed IKEA kitchens before, however they didn't use any of the instruction manuals and improperly screwed through the cabinet walls - ruining several of the cabinets and finish pieces.
• The patio door they installed is out of square, leaving about a 1/4" height difference from one side of the slider to the other and the screen door doesn't seal properly along its edge.
• They had the plumbing subcontractor (whom we liked) rough in the gas line THREE times.  I had to correct them the first two because they were off by over 18 inches, having forgotten to allot space for the dishwasher.  The second time it was directly on the the border of what would have been a cabinet and the stove bay.  When I brought this to their attention, Bob's response was "well, I'm close enough...".  Yes.  Close enough to have to cut the back corner off of my brand new cabinet.
• They predicted three weeks total for the job - we dismissed them on Monday of week 4 with unfinished flooring and about 3/4 of the cabinets improperly installed.  When the response to the first item on my two-page punch list was "Well, look you have to understand why I'm right and you're wrong...", that was the last straw.   
• We had paid them half of the money up front and feel as though we got almost half of the job out of them, just too many headaches and heartaches to finish it out.

Bob was a nice enough guy.  Not open to feedback at all.  When my wife asked if we could please touch base daily (after the gas line location incident), he huffed at her and said "you've got to be joking."  I wish I were...
