Jason and Liz are incredibly accommodating, super friendly and extremely knowledgeable on all roofing related matters~ they take the time to explain everything no matter how many questions you may have (and we had a lot) and provide pictures both before and after so you can actually see the amazing quality of their work~ their prices are very fair and reasonable and we would highly recommend them and give them an A+++++ across the board!!!

I couldn't be more satisfied with the work Doherty Slate Roofing did on our slate roof. Everything--from initial and on-going communication via Liz, to price, to the quality of the work itself, to the friendliness of the workers on site--was excellent! Jason even agreed to come a little outside of their normal service area to respond to my request for a careful inspection and minor repairs where slate tiles were either missing or slightly out of place. And after the inspection and repairs were done, he provided a written report with photos on the condition of our roof (which is excellent), and what we will need to do in the future to maintain its good condition. I'm very pleased that I've found a slate roof specialist that I know I can trust and count on in the future.

Jason did an excellent job with the slate roof repair work. He did a thorough inspection on the roof, recommended a reasonable scope of work, and carried through in a timely manner. This really stood out compared with some other companies that tried to quote us with expensive repairs that was not well justified. On top of that the communication was great, the start date was pushed back a few times due to the weather but updates were given well in advance so that I can plan accordingly.

I have a slate roof and a rubber roof and had difficulty finding someone who could do a proper inspection with repairs. I stumbled upon Doherty Slate Roofing in Swampscott, MA. Several houses have slate roofs in our town. I have to say, he did an excellent job in repairing my rubber roof as well as the slate roof, which had missing slates and broken slates. Jason was spectacular. He also repaired the Boston Saddle hips and the flat copper roof. The work was done promptly, and the cleanup was very, very good. I am excited to write this review as we need people like Doherty to give us honest advice and understand this unique roof for repairs. Doherty took extreme care not to drop anything in the garden. The clean-up was excellent. I am ready for the winter and do not worry about leaks and ice damage from the missing slates.

Jason and his crew where very good and clearly dedicated to the craft. let me tell you, it isn't easy finding a really good slate roofer, but these guys are so dedicated to their craft. Jason was very forth coming with the project before we started and during the project. He would always fill me in and show me pictures of the problem areas and explained how he did things. Hands down going to give them all my slate work moving forward. Jason also replaced a portion of my flat rubber roof which had pin holes all over it, he put a beautiful copper drip edge around it and all of a sudden our 120 year old slate roof looks in the best condition it has ever looked.

He explains what he's doing, does not look to sell you work, and then takes care in how he treats your roof and how he treats you as a customer. Old school in his dedication -- to the work and to the customer -- and he does the work himself.

Jason is a meticulous craftsman his quality attracted the attention of everyone that walked past our home. He restored slate and copper dormers and soldered all the copper seams together, it was a pleasure to watch him work with such precision. His work is unmatched in our neighborhood. He is responsive direct and very pleasant and knowledgeable.

We had a bad wind storm back in March that ripped part of our roof off. Didn't realize until I saw water stains on the bathroom ceiling that something was NOT right. ..Playing phone tag with Jason, he finally came out to assess and informed me what restoration was needed. He didn't try to sell me a new roof. He also did tell me he was extremely busy, but would put an estimate together and we'd go from there...Fast forward to beginning of June...able to squeeze me in, came out and were able to restore the roof and ever since - no more leakss!! Jason and his crew are very professional, reliable, good quality and most importantly clean up after they are done. He doesn't t try to upsell you with things that are not needed. Jason is a true craftsman that provides high quality slate and copper repairs/restorations for an affordable price. He explained exactly what he was going to do before he started our slate roof repairs and reviewed all the details with us. He replaced almost all of the copper cap flashing and 50+ slate. Along with the slate and copper repairs he rebuilt the chimney from just below the roofline and flashed it with lead. Finally, he installed copper boots for the plumbing vents and a new copper dryer vent. I have noticed that several of my neighbors have also used his services since completing our roof. I would definitely use Jason again on my next roof repairs.

The slate repairs were well done and professional. The work they did to prepare my two porches for the copper gutters was also excellent. The gutter work itself was good, but I am dissatisfied with the finished product for a very specific reason. Jason did not check to see if the porch was level before he laid out all of the plans for the gutter. It turns out the the porch roof is not level. It is sagging quite a lot on the right side, and in the opposite direction of the expected pitch for the gutter. As a result while putting on the gutters he discovered that the normal pitch the gutter should require would not drain the water. Instead, he explained to me, the gutter would be installed at an awkward angle to the porch roof, adding that to change it at that point would require him to re-do a lot of the work he had done getting the gutters ready, such as installing a hole for the downspout and soldering the end caps in place. I agreed, not wanting to waste all that time and material that was already invested, but I wish I hadn't. The gutter squarely in front of my house looks awful. It is at a radical angle. and not nearly level, as it should be. It looks quite stupid actually. After the work was all done and I'd made my unhappy feelings known to him he said that one way to make it right in the future would be to add a downspout on the right side and in that way the gutter wouldn't need to be pitched at all. Had he planned that in the beginning, the new copper gutter on my front porch roof would look splendid and would be a fine complement to my house.

Plain and simple--Jason fixed our leaky slate roof! During the process, he clearly explained what he uncovered and how he thought best to address it. Communication was clear, and he was prompt in assessing the roof and in returning to repair it.
