Description of Work: We have been working with Jan for the past couple of months and I have nothing but good things to say. Jan is working with us to build a new half bath on the first floor in addition to adding a new 12x14 foot deck going out from the family room. He is also replacing 3 windows in our family room. First off, Jan is extremely professional and runs a tight ship. He took our general inputs and requirements and offered a varied approach to achieve the results we want. He is also very articulate and has an open mind to make the changes are cost effective and efficient as possible. He also provided an outstanding approach of doing things right from getting permits, to getting the best materials for the cost to go within our budget. He is also prompted in getting questions answered and if he says he will be there.. he will be there doing the work. We have had experiences with contractors not showing up but Jan is good at multi tasking and knows timelines.

Description of Work: We hired Jan at Crimson Moon Construction through Angie s List in October 2006 to remodel our full bathroom. He has since remodeled our other bathroom, done interior painting and built a new kitchen. The old bathroom had a shower partition that obstructed the window and created a restricted toilet stall. Jan replaced this wall with a 32 high partition and around-the-corner shower curtain rod. The shower head and controls were located on the removed wall and Jan s plumber moved this plumbing and the drain to the opposite end of the tub. Jan is also a master tile mason and cabinet builder. He tiled the floor and tub area, and milled window and door casings to match those in the rest of the house. We used natural wood wainscoting and trim in our other bathroom. Finish cutting of the molding and casing had to be exact since gaps could not be covered with caulking compound. As before, he also milled the door and window casings himself. Our kitchen remodeling involved many structural and insect damage repairs that were not evident at the onset. Jan did the necessary framing, and installed new windows and exterior siding in the process. His biggest contribution was the creation of custom birch cabinets.

Description of Work: MOST RECENTLY, JAN RENOVATED THE INTERIOR OF AN 1880 VICTORIAN HOME FOR ME. HE IS AN AMAZINGLY TALENTED INDIVIDUAL WHO CAN COMPLETE ANY NUMBER OF TASKS. HE CAN DO ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS, ROUGH CARPENTRY, BEAUTIFUL FINISH CARPENTRY, PAINTING, TILING, DECKS, SHEETROCK AND TAPE. I HAVE KNOWN JAN FOR OVER TEN YEARS AND WE HAVE DONE MANY PROJECTS TOGETHER, ALL THE WAY FROM NEW CONSTRUCTION TO RENOVATIONS OF OLD HOUSES, KITCHENS AND BATHS.
