Nick The Painter

Awesome.  But first, a clarification.  The company is Nick the painter, but Nick (Kapeleris) is mostly retired, and his son-in-law, Nectar Kamarnios, took over the business several years ago. Nectar does a fabulous job.  
I did not know him and got at least 8 quotes. He was on the lower price range but was not the lowest.  However, I found that the $$ quoted had nothing to do with my confidence in the company/painter. The price, really, seemed quite random from painters.  I had a range of $4100 on quotes, for the exact same work and materials.
We went with Nectar and he did a great job.  Put us on the schedule and showed up on the given week, actually, he showed up a week early to walk around the job site and confirm details.  His crew were good workers and respectful.  They did most of the work but Nectar did some of the hands on work and checked in with them multiple times per day.  Nectar consistently checked with us to see if we liked the work.  If we made suggestions or changed our mind on something, Nectar right away complied without any hassles.  He would provide his advice but didn't push it.  I got the feeling he genuinely wanted to do a good job and wants the customer to be satisfied.  We were, and we'll use him next time. 
 

This is the second time we used Nick.  He is very responsive and on time.  He gets all the work done very quickly...he uses lots of manpower .  We will use him again in a couple of years.

His crew cleaned up every night. He did exactly what he outlined in his estimate.. His price did not
change although he did do some extras. The house looks wonderful. We are extremely pleased with his performance. Would definitely use him again and highly recommend him.

Nick was very easy to work with, accomodating all requests with aplomb and ended up only charging $100 or so about the original estimate for some additional (more significant) wood replacement/repairs I requested.  This seemed more than reasonable particularly since I made other requests above the estimated work that he did not charge for.   The quality of work was very good - even taped off along the roofline which some painters don't do  -- though I had to sometimes point out to him things that were not initially done that should have been, like painting cellar casement windows and replacing missing shingles.  That said, once I pointed these items out, Nick was happy to accomodate and the end result is outstanding.  Our house went from the ugly duckling of the neighborhood to the fairest of them all. Nick was also great at helping with color selection - he's got a great eye for color.  I simply pointed to a neighborhood house whose color scheme I admired and he matched it just by glancing at it from the street. I interviewed maybe a dozen painters before choosing Nick and estimates varied widely.  We were quoted upwards of $12K and Nick did the entire job for $5K for a top quality job.  A number of the painters we talked to wanted us to make every detailed decision and seemed reluctant to make recommendations based on their experience.  Some seemed thrown and made a big fuss over some trim repairs we needed.  Nick essentially has the attitude that he's been doing this for a long time, has seen it all, and can do it all with no problem.  He'll take any special direction or requests that you make, but if you don't want to have to make all the decisions and project manage all the details, he'll just take care of it with a smile.  He works with a crew of 3-5 depending on the day and they work fast.  They also show up when they say they will, weather permitting.  They were polite, clean, and Nick is very easygoing and takes pride in his work. We couldn't have been more pleased.

Nick the Painter is all over Winchester, MA where I live. Decided to call and get estimate. Set up appt 3 days later and Nick was on time and very motivated. Provided estimate at that time which I needed for budgeting purposes as I was having residing and some new windows installed in old home. I decided to go with Nick as he had good word of mouth and was very responsive. He scheduled me in right after outside work was done. House was washed and then painted. Washed house and then let dry for 5-7 days. Primed house 1-2 days and let dry for 5 days. I went on vacation to Europe while project was going on. Left key with Nick so he could paint doors and windows. He even called me in Spain to confirm door colors. House was beautiful when we returned home. Everything was very neat and cleaned up. I did notice some areas that were not sanded as smoothly as I would like and called Nick to discuss. No issues at all with agreeing with me and promptly took care of everything to my satisfaction. So far it has only been 6 months and it looks real good. Time will tell how well it holds up.

Overall, completed as he said he would, very satisfied and will use him again.

Love Nick, the crew was professional. But within 1 year paint peeling, 2 years later had to redo major areas of house due to peeling paint

Couldn't have gone better. He is truly a gem. I have contracted with him to do other jobs for me. HIs prices are more than competitive, and he is genial and kind.

The elderly resident was thrilled. The owner (Nick) was very attentive and charged a great price for the amount of work that had to be undertaken. No deposits or up front charges were required. No surprises! Price was exactly what was offered as an estimate in May 2008. It took several months to get the work done because the homeowner had to postpone, not the painter. A tremendous amount of scraping and prep work was done without a hint of an increase in costs. There was none.

VERY NEAT, CLEAN, VERY DEPENDABLE, DID THE WORK ON TIME. WOULD USE HIM AGAIN.
