My story is the same as all of the other negative reviews posted recently. I bought the AngiesList big deal expecting a good experience. Instead, Joe was difficult to get in touch with, missed appointments, and now owes us money. His voicemail is always full, which probably doesn't matter because he wouldn't call back anyway. When I am able to get a hold of him (which usually requires finding a new phone number so he can't screen my call) he promises to pay me back within by a certain day, and then I don't hear from him until I find a new phone to call from.
That being said, the actual work he did was great. We're happy with the results.

I purchased a Big Deal for Joe to repoint my front porch. Scheduling him to do the work was challenging, but the weather was uncooperative so I gave him a pass on that. He came and looked at the job and convinced me that re-pointing all of the stairs would be the best idea (my mistake #1) I asked about waiting until the weather was warmer and he said he could adjust the mix and it shouldn't be a problem (my mistake #2). For this, I paid him an extra $ 400 above the Big Deal price. He did come out and do the work and it looked really good. I actually gave him a good review (my mistake #3).
As the weather thawed the pointing began to crumble. I took pictures and sent them to Joe. He answered the first few calls and never showed up when he said he would. This started in March and went until the first of May. I gave him many opportunities and he always said he would re-point the stairs and apologized for not showing up. The last call I made was in May and I am DONE. My stairs look worse than when I started...and I need to have some one else fix the stairs and I am out $500. I trust that Angie's list does some background review of workers they promote through these deals. This is the second Big Deal I have purchased and have had issues with the work and workers. There will NOT be a third and I will NEVER purchase a big deal again.

We have been trying to get an appointment for him to come out and complete the work for months. Joe is nice and at times responsive, but actually getting our service done would be nice, especially since we paid for this a long time ago. The project was delayed after his first consultation because we needed to install a mantel. Once that was done, I contacted him several times to set up a time to come out. Two dates came and went. I am just having a hard time getting a solid commitment to get him to come and do the work we paid for up front. (never again)
I'd be happy to update my review as soon as this work is actually completed. I'm sure he does a fine job but this scheduling and responsiveness issue is not OK when you pay so much money up front.
This also makes me want to drop my subscription to Angies list. I feel cheated that I bought this 'deal of the day' and at the time, the guy had good ratings. 6 months later, the ratings on the provider are terrible. Thanks so much for the great 'deal' Angie's List.

It looks okay, so far so good. The snow is covering it now so I can't check.

Spring of 2013 I hired Joseph Bright to rebuild the brick stoop to the entrance of my single family home in Cambridge. I was very pleased with how focused his was on quality and customer satisfaction.
When he stripped away the old brick we uncovered a more serious problems with the stoop foundation and the part of the house the stoop abutted. Joe came up with good solutions are a very reasonable price. I felt he went the extra mile to make sure we avoided any longer term problems by not doing a quickie work around. The new stoop is granite treads over brick fronts. Very nice. He also extended the old railing to go down the steps rather than just on the top level as they originally were. Customer Satisfaction: when he'd just finished installing the railings (in the rain) I decided I wanted them to sit closer to the steps. He didn't hesitate or question, he immediately pulled them out, redrilled, reinstalled. In the final payment I gave him a bonus.
Months later stoop still looks great.

The work went great. My steps were falling apart and the porch was coming away from the foundation the roof part leaked. Around the house I had some holes and whoever did the pointing in the past did not do it too good. Joe's dad did the pointing and a great job he did. I could not be happier. The work they did breaking down the concrete porch was something else with the heat of the summer I was surprised at the way they took the job on ...they worked no less than ten hours a day. The workmanship was absolutely done well. Even the inspector told me it was good work. Other people in my neighborhood that did similar type work said it was nicely done. Joe's uncle worked the wood with magic and he took pride in what he was doing. I'm not too sure how I'm supposed to write this up, but I looked at it like this: I hired them because grandfather, father, and son Joe all masons a lot of knowledge there old school values and it showed in the work. The crew worked hard and were always in a good mood...good attitude, good work. Things sometimes don't go as fast as you want it to but, the end result is what counts.

Joe Bright was recommended to me by carpenter. Contacting Joe and setting up meetings on the phone with him was very easy. He came out to measure and give me an estimate on demoing, disposal of old material and repouring of a two car garage floor. The measure is approximately 16x16. The work was done within a week and his crew was very clean and competent. The floor looked great when he was finished. It's been four months since the work has been done and so far I haven't had any issues. The price was $5500 which is a bit higher then a couple estimates (those estimates did not include disposal) but I think it was worth the price.
I would call Joe again for future work.
