We hired Herc and the Derek Construction team for a deck project The job consisted of a tear down and new build. The job was completed in 8 days (one rainy day) from start to finish. The guys arrived early and did a full days work. The owner was on-site for the majority of job and was accessible on a daily basis. The price was fair and they were able to complete a separate job (new framing & stairs leading to the yard) within the same time frame that the deck was estimated for. Hired Derek to do molding. Takes a couple text and calls to get him to respond. Initial quote for doing some crown molding was very high, and he was unable to tell me how he came to his numbers. When I walked him through the cost of the molding, supplies, and time he stated he needed, he quickly realized how high his quote was and brought it down to a reasonable number. Quality of work was good. Compound miter cuts for the corners were great, but the seams on the two longer walls were off. One was so off that I had to dig out the caulking he used to fill it and hammer a 16D finishing nail to secure the piece tighter to the wall. I then recaulked and now the seam is barely noticeable. Overall, he got the job done, but do your homework, price out the supplies and hours needed, how many men he needs and negotiate a fair price.

I would 100% hire Derek Construction again. They are trustworthy and fair. I was quoted an outrageous amount by another company to have windows replaced and they were able to replace the rotted wood around the window for a much more reasonable price. I also had a leak in the roof around our chimney- they fixed it over 6 months ago- we've had many storms since then and there is not one issue. They were on time and efficient.

Good work, just expensive. Not upfront about prices. No follow-up for future projects.

Excellent job renovating our deck and and building a lattice shed underneath part of the deck. The work is beautifully done. Derek and his team are hard workers and detail oriented. You will not be disappointed with their work and quality of results. They re also efficient and easy to reach by phone. They finished the job in 3 days working from 7:30am to 6pm. The final price did increase incrementally from the original quote we agreed on. However Overall a great job and would recommend them.

They responded to the request quickly and with good quality work! But had increased the price twice from the original quote having us pay an additional $450 over a quote! Left us with ALL the trash and the overbought material! Charged more because he miss measured on the requested deck size. Yet had so much extra material that he left in my yard for me to dispose of! Agreed to provide safety gate and then said it would be an additional $400 got him down to $300 but felt hostage as it was a pool deck and we planed and wanted the gate in the designed deck request! Happy with the deck but not happy with their customer service!!! Bait and switch!!!

I had a 12x16 deck built. Did a great job, was finished in 2 days.
