We hired Peter to get rid of knob and tube in our house that we were selling. He knew the urgency, as it had to be done before we could close. He stated he could do the job in time and quoted us $1500 for the first floor. He showed up and pulled all of our ceiling fans/lights down on the first floor on the first day. He then stopped coming and did not return until 2 weeks later, leaving us with no fans on the first floor in July and without most lights. Almost every evening during the 2 weeks he would text and say he would be there and then never show up or text. We were supposed to close on Monday and he finally showed up the Thursday before that to do the job. He cut humongous wholes throughout the whole entire house that we had to have a contractor come fix and he never used a drop cloth or anything, getting plaster and dust all over everything including our beds and clothes. He left nails, drywall and debris everywhere when we have children and pets in the home. Peter was super unprofessional when he was in our home, multiple neighbors brought to our attention that he would yell and swear and slam our doors when we werent there, to the point that they would come check to make sure everything was okay. The second floor ended up having knob and tube as well which Peter missed in the original quote. When he finally **finished** the job, he had missed a whole room and another outlet in the master bedroom. He also left light fixtures not put back together. The quality of work was awful, with the plaster patches behind the lights so thick that the switch plates would not sit flat. He put most/all of the light switch plates and outlet covers on crooked or super loose and wiggly. The ceiling fan in my sons room was left with a hole around it. None of these things were this way when he started the work on our home. When I contacted him regarding the quality of work and the items left unfinished, he told me I was just trying to get out of paying. Oh, and the final price... $5700...nearly 4 times what he originally quoted us for crap work! We paid more than half of the bill before the work was completed and he **kindly** offered to let us pay the rest after our closing because we would have made money from the sale of our home. BUT even though he offered, he went and placed a lien on our property the day before the closing which delayed us another day plus he tried to lie and get an additional 2000 beyond the 5700 by stating I had only paid 1000 when I had paid 3000 prior. Luckily for me, I had paid with check and could prove through my bank account that the money was in fact paid. Oh yeah and he never completed the work. I would NEVER recommend Peter, he doesnt show up as promised, he is unprofessional, the quality of his work was awful and he bills you for way more than the quote.
Response from Stella Electric

"1) I told her the bare minimum was like 1500.00 for removing and replaceing something like a bit of attic wiring or a few basement lights- Her entire house was knob and tube. I told her that if it ran into that it could be closer to $7000.00. 2) She had a Federal Pacific breaker panel which she chose to leave (a known fire hazzard) 3) I told her that there was no way that i had the time to do the patching. She said she would take care of it, and I offered to show them how. 4) yes some time went by and when i got to do the job i provided tools for them to do the patching and had them buy the materials, yet they did nothing. 5) The house was a mess, I actually took down ceiling fans which sat in a room and the one from the kitchen- well there was so much crap on the blades I would want to eat in there or prepare food fearing that something might come off- did whe clean them or her husband or like 3 kids? NOPE. 6) on the subject of ceiling fans, NEC requires and has always required a cieling fan box, there were 5 fans that i took down and put back up and each needed a fan box or fan kit cost between 10 and 20 bucks. to do the 5 fans alone is $1000.00 7) Finally she hired the contractor who refered me to her to patch the drywall, he didnt do anything at the swtiches for the lights so i had to do that, and he left the hole in the bedroom cieling and then wanted me do go do his job. 8) At the last moment as i was cleaning up i found that 1 light in the back of the house was now without power, this part of the house was an old porch that had been turned into a computer room and a bathroom and had all new drywall. So I took care of it and did not add it to the bill, on top or that I patched the drywall. Felica has lived at the home for a while and if you look at pictures on zillio she hasnt replace a thing, and the house is a dump."

Mr. Stella did a great job overall and provided good customer service. One caveat is that his price for the job was a little high.

We had a list and it was done quickly and efficiently. Kidding I asked if he could rewire an old (1975) hanging swag light. He looked at it and fixed it within 15min. Will use again if we need them.

I have hired Stella Electric twice to repair damage done to my external wiring and electric meter by downed trees. Both times Peter was able to get to my house the fastest, did great work, and offered the best price. I would 100% recommend him!

Bath Exhaust Fan - Repair
I ask him to come and check out to replace and install new bathroom fan. Peter took the old fan down and said he was going to fix it, and would be done in two weeks, he has never brought my property back. I called him and left voice mail and he called me back and said I was harassing him. I want my fan back to get another electrician to fix it. Peter Stellaâ s response is 100% lie, He harassed me and insulted me like a criminal, I believe he has a behavior like a criminal to hurt women, and he does not have any fear to do it. He has ethic and moral problems. He lied to customers, especially to women, that he is going to fix staff, but he would never come and he ate his words, if you contact him, he is very nasty and making lies, harassing customers, When home advisor contacted him, he immediately called me to harass and insult, I would leave the imagination to consumers about this bad contractor in home advisor. Do not use him, Handyman is even better than him, He is very bad to customers and provide worst service or no service
Response from Stella Electric

"BTW her name is Susan D. [Consumer name withheld at their request] and she has no ethics. Woman is literally insane- asked for a plumber I gave her a referral- my plumber friend didn't call her back because she harassed him. She called me to do a simple job - wanted an estimate for it immediately so she could hold back a security deposit- on an item that was 50 years old and part of the apartment- had the tenant gone to the Housing Department the landlord would have had to fix it and the tenant would be told to not pay rent until the problem was rectified. when i realized what she was up to combined with her attitude i chose not to do work for her."

Dragged out the job for two months, and never ended up finishing. Getting responses was like pulling teeth. Had to give up on him. $900 and very few results later. Also dont appreciate the inappropriate language in front of me kids multiple times (I dont think he even realized it). I had other issues with this guy too, but you get the idea. Update: a month later, I have now hired another electrician to do the job that Stella Electric was supposed to do. It took the other electrician about two hours. Everything is working great. They also found problems with Stella's work, causing me to incur additional charges. I didn't think it would get worse, but it did.
Response from Stella Electric

"Dragged a job out for months? Never ended up finishing? Getting rewsponses like pulling teeth? had to give up on me? $900 and few results- Really I used inappropriate language in front og the kids? I must be missing something because A) when there was a problem I fixed it B) I count one child were you hiding one somewhere? The only thing that was left was to swap out a switch which I ordered and the fact that it took a while to come in was beyond my control. I am assuming you made up the language but if I am wrong I apologize- have a nice day."

He was very quick to respond and came over the same day. It was $150 to just have him come out but because the fix was very easy he didn't charge me more than that. He was very personable and cleaned up after himself.
