He's a very nice guy. And he knows his stuff. He showed up late, however. He's also more geared to building walls, not necessarily fixing drainage problems in a basement as his offer suggested. He suggested a plan to redirect water from the basement to the outside and sent me an estimate with info later that was helpful. I didn't go with his idea not because it was a bad idea but because it and every other proposals anyone has suggested is just too expensive.

I cannot imagine a more positive experience than that provided by Ramsden Fieldstone walls.  Brett Ramsden is a consummate professional and has groomed his crew to emulate him in this regard.  Their work was performed meticulously, with great attention to both craftsmanship and artistry.  Brett provides an exceptional level of service and obviously takes great pride in his profession.
Our front yard was challenging and clearly stumped several contractors, in terms of what would be the optimal way to excavate and re-grade around buried electrical lines, and how to build our walls and paths.  Brett provided a clear idea of how to proceed from the moment he arrived and continually strove to create a final result that met both our, and his, expectations.
We are thrilled with the quality and beauty of the work provided by Ramsden Fieldstone Walls.  We plan to use them in the future for our backyard and give them our highest praise and recommendation.

Well ... eventually. I was difficult to make an appointment, but when i finally did, the work was carried out impeccably.

I contacted Ramsden last fall, too late to do stone work because of cold weather. He gave addresses where i could go view some of his work. I chose them over a more general mason/landscaper because I felt like he understood the problem we were facing better than the other bidders. And he seemed to know how to build a fieldstone wall better. This spring he called before I had a chance to call him (bonus points in my book) and arranged the job. We reviewed the job, added the minor repair to the second wall that had been damaged over the winter. He came the day that he said he would. The work took about the time that he said it would. They carefully moved plants that might be affected by their work. They workmen were quiet and polite. They cleaned up after themselves including cleaning the driveway where the work had been done. They even brought in some fresh topsoil for the plantings since they had to move so much of it out of the way and the fill deep down had been poor soil for plants. They  put in a gutter diverter so that water from the roof would not drain into the stone wall (and thereby cause problems in the future). During the entire job, Ramsden checked in to make sure that we were content with the progress of the job. The wall that they rebuilt is of much higher quality than the wall that was there. They put in proper drainage so that water would not affect the wall in the future. The wall was significantly thicker  than the wall it replaced. Although, it cost more than some of the other estimates, I feel like we got very high quality for our money. I feel confident that this wall is not just decorative and good looking but that it will do its job of holding back the soil/hill behind it. We have a lot of stone walls and should any of them need work in the future I will not hesitate to call Ramsden.  We couldn't be happier with the job that they did.

He worked with me. I had some specific ideas and he did everything that I asked him and then some. He communicated with me on a regular basis. He was prompt, returned calls and dropped his prices about 10% for me. I would absolutely hire him again
