Advanced Tuning & Repair by Dan Iannotti

To say that it went phenomenally well would be an understatement... Right at the beginning of this COVID-19 pandemic, I could not find a piano technician in this entire state that would pick up their phone--let alone, carry out a service request. Dan answered the call and went completely out of his way, tailoring to my availability and schedule over his, driving 30 minutes to Stow, MA, to save me in a jam. I could not have been more satisfied with the service that Dan Iannotti provided for me. He absolutely went above and beyond my expectations; and even educated me several things along the way. (Mostly on the differences between pre-1920’s pianos compared to current day pianos). I paid him to perform one service; to provide a tuning/maintenance procedure with three (3) typical/general tuning passes. What I received in response was exactly what I requested and so much-much more. In addition to providing me with an exceptional tuning service; he provided me with: (1). A world of additional knowledge relating to the regulation process of antique and modern pianos, (2). Performed a few extra maintenance and regulatory services on the piano for free because he stated that if he didn’t perform those services that damage would be the result if the incorrect regulatory functions were not corrected immediately, and (3). He then informed me that a few neglected parts of my Life Saving System (Humidifier/Dehumidifier) system on the piano were a possible fire hazard and he gave me replacement parts to negate the possible hazard. I tried to pay Dan for those additional services, yet he affirmed that I could not pay him for those minor maintenance services, because it was not me that requested him to perform those services. It was his personal ethics and principles that requested/obligated him to perform those services—therefore, he stated that no charge was necessary. He said that he was obligated to immediately correct/readjust/maintain and-or replace any part of the piano if failing to do so would result in serious damage to the piano or if physical harm to the pianos owner could be a possible outcome. And if that wasn't enough, Dan barely let me tip him and only accepted my tip after I begged him to take it!! Dan is everything that you would every possibly want in a piano technician and so, so, so much more!

Dan did an excellent work, he did took the time to do the tuning, not in a hurry and explained with great detail all the process. He also helps setting up the humidity control system and provided the pads and cleaning solutions, very friendly, a person that loves what he does and enjoy his work. Will definitely continue using his services.

Excellent! Dan has been servicing our piano since we bought it 13 years ago. He is knowledgeable and thorough. Dan takes the effort and time to answer any questions and to show and explain what he did and if there is anything that he noticed needs attention. Dan was great. He spent a few hours tuning my piano and also repaired the pedals. He took his time and when he was done he explained what he did. He showed me the inside of the piano and pointed out that the soundboard had been completely repaired at one time. He even took the time to look up the serial number to figure out what year the piano was made. I will definitely use him again.

Absolutely wonderful. Dan is a highly skilled and well educated piano technician. He went above and beyond the call of duty to bring a vintage piano into tune. He also took the time to explain to us the mechanics of the instrument and offering recommendations for things we could do to further improve the operation and sound. Outstandingly! Dan went over and above the call of duty on a long neglected piano. He had a couple of suggestions for future adjustments to the piano, but exerted no sales pressure whatsoever. My mother’s Piano was in storage for a year. The condition was good but it needed tuning. Mr. Iannotti showed up when he was scheduled and was very proficient in understanding what care was necessary to bring the piano back to the quality of tone desired by my mother. He was knowledgeable, and worked diligently to get the piano tuned in a timely manner. Thanks Dan!

Mr. Iannotti was prompt, kind, and thorough. He was not bothered in the slightest by small children observing his work. The piano sounds much better than the last time it was tuned. I used the "schedule it now" feature on AngiesList and he gave me one of the requested dates.

Dan was prompt in returning my call and scheduled an appointment within days. He arrived on time, was very thorough, knowledgeable, and professional. All that at a very reasonable cost. He provided me with good advice for additional services. I will definitely be bringing Dan back in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

We have a Knabe baby grand that was several years out of tune, and had some keys with poor action.  Dan responded to my call promptly, was very professional and did an excellent job repairing the broken keys and tuning the piano.  He spent several hours working on the piano and charged a reasonable fee.  It still sounds great several months later.  We will definitely be going back to Dan for all our tuning and repairs.

I am very pleased with this service.  It's an heirloom 1931 baby grand piano that's been in our family since new.  It hadn't been tuned in several years (maybe as many as seven!).  Dan had to make two passes to raise the pitch and tune the piano.  He then thoroughly cleaned and dusted the sounding board and action.  Dan arrived promptly, was very personable and even tuned my guitars!  He was willing to travel more than his usual range and charged what I consider to be a very reasonable amount.  I will be calling him once a year from now on for tuning and other repairs.

Our piano is a 1910 upright that had been passed down through the family, made multiple moves (including across the country and up the eastern coast).  The piano had a number of mechanical issues, as well as being 1.5 steps or more out of tune.
Given that the piano had sentimental value, but I am not a concert pianist, Dan was able to work with us to establish a mid point cost for repair, rejuvenation, and tuning.   In the process Dan, took out the entire action and worked over the holidays to find / create suitable repair parts. 
The piano now plays better than it has in the 50 years I have known it, and is finally(!!) in tune. 
We couldn't be happier with the service and the result.  We heartily recommend Dan!

Dan was very knowledgable and professional. He arrived on time and did more than I expected for the cost- he spent several hours tuning my piano and repaired a few keys that were broken. He also spent some time explaining the inside of the piano and other repairs I can invest in to make it sound even better.

Dan performed two services for me. The first time he came to my house he tuned my Baldwin grand piano which hadn't been tuned in several years. His fee for the tuning ($120) was very reasonable considering the amount of time he spent with the piano. It sounded fabulous when he was finished. I have a wood stove in my house which is in close proximity to the piano. I was concerned that the stove might negatively affect the piano. Dan suggested installing a humidity control system to protect the piano. He came a second time to install the unit. The total cost for the system including labor was $450. He did a great job with the installation and the unit is very easy to operate and maintain. I am very happy that I found Dan. He is a wonderful piano technician. I will definitely be calling him again. I highly recommend him.

Dan was very professional and accommodating about scheduling a time that worked for me. He tuned the piano, answered my questions. I will call him next year to tune it again.

Dan was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to explain everything he was doing. He showed a lot of passion for his work and the piano. He was extremely nice and professional. He was careful not to leave or make a mess...respectful of the space he was working in. He also made great recommendations for supplies I needed for my piano. We worked out the schedule with no problems. He arrived on time and worked on the piano for 4 hours in my home. He willingly discussed everything about this piano which I have owned and played for 40 years - what he found and pointing out every detail I asked about. He was efficient, knowledgeable, and congenial, never degrading any previous tuner nor the instrument itself. We discussed some small parts and part conditions together to determine if previous work may have been done. He evaluated the sound board and structural components. He gave me terrific insight on the current overall condition and the future value options of keeping or selling the instrument. I feel I have a fine repaired and tuned piano for a very fair price. In fact he could charge more for his services and still be competitive. He then applied a cleaner to the keys. This was the best repair and tuning I have had done on this instrument. I would recommend Dan highly for piano turning and repair and will use him again. He sends out e-mails on the one-year anniversary of his last tuning as a friendly reminder, it the customer wants this service.

I was once again glad to have Dan come back and get my annual piano tuning. Dan is such a great guy, and thankfully he sends out a reminder email each year.
Besides getting my piano to sound awesome, it is always great to hear Dan play as he checks out the piano after the tune up.
His price for the services is a real steal!
I already am on the list for next year's tune up.
