I apologize for not including the discount, it is not automatic and for Angie's list members, also needs to be mentioned at time of estimate so the member may receive the discount. ( unless I forgot.....sorry) [Member Name Removed], I apologize and can offer you an additional $50 discount on any future work, as well as the Angie's list discount. Thank you Tim Neufell

Neufel cut down four trees. All went well and I'm happy with the work. He does the work with people and ropes, so there was no damage to the yard. Other companies proposed bringing in heavy machinery which would have torn up the yard. His price was better than all others. However, I had only requested three trees to be cut down. Losing the fourth wasn't a problem, but I can't give him an A, because he didn't check with me, before doing it. I'd use him again, because he was good to work with and I'll chalk it up as an honest mistake. He might have been wanting to do me a favor, as I was clearing trees for solar panels.
Description of Work: Neufel cut down four trees using people, saws and ropes, no heavy machinery. We agreed on a price, without setting a fixed date. He just came in about a month later and did the work.

Tim Neufell was excellent. Very friendly. I highly value any vendor where the person who provides the estimate is the person who performs the work. This avoids a lot of potential problems. Tim and his team worked extremely hard, and were very efficient. His price was the best (of 4 estimates) by far and he was available to start the project promptly. I would definitely use him again.
Description of Work: removed about 20 trees (some large some small), including stump grinding. He also leveled a large section of land with a bobcat.

I offered Tim from Neufell Tree and Landscape the job on 4/28/13 as he was the lowest bidder of 4 bids by a factor of 2. Note that the other 3 bidders were with $100 of each other! Tim gave a start date in 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, I had to call Tim to get a start date and ask where I was in the queue. At this time, I was next in the queue. Note that the weather during this period was clear. I communicated to Tim on all occasions that I wanted to be home to witness the work; as removing a large branch over the garage seemed problematic. I also needed at least a days notice on the work date so that I could inform my employer. On 5 occasions, Tim called the night before with some excuse and a new start date. On the 5th occasion, Tim called ½ hr before he was scheduled to start work with yet another excuse that could have been communicated the day before. This was the breaking point! When leaving messages, Tim speaks fast and often away from the phone so the messages are nearly incomprehensible. Needless to say, I would not recommend Neufell Tree and Landscape to anyone; and what generally happens is the negative experience is communicated to anyone who would listen.

Response from Neufell Tree & Landscape
I gave the customer a start date of about two weeks, weather permitting, I informed (deleted member name) we would pick a date to do the work as we got closer, of course any rain in that two week time frame would push out a little further. On the morning of the job, May 23rd,I awoke with a tick in my stomach and need to go to Emergency room, to have it removed. I was ready to do the job immediately after, but was informed by (deleted member name) he would be going on vacation, I rescheduled for the first day he would be back, which would have been the week after, June 5th to be precise. On the night before the job, I called (deleted member name) and left a message to confirm we would be there as scheduled. (deleted member name) had called my business line sometime around 850pm, telling me I didnt have the job, unfortuneately I had already retrieved messages for that day and not received the message. I received another phone call, on my cell phone this time, at 5am the morning of the job from (deleted member name) telling me to I didnt have the job and to cancel. I tried to call (deleted member name) back to speak to him as to why and received no answer. Then, to my surprise he puts a negative report on Angies list, I didnt even get to work for this customer, I feel he is being unfair and dont feel I deserve this rating.

When I purchased my home, I inherited several large, dead trees that were scattered about the property. Since it was Fall season, I assumed the trees would come back to life in Spring, but several years later, the dead trees remained dead. After suffering damage from a number of wind storms, ice storms, and busy woodpeckers, the trees posed a fall hazard, so I contacted several local tree service companies to provide estimates to remove them. I didn?t hear from two of the companies I?d contacted, and the others that did respond gave estimates that exceeded my budget for the work. Tim from Neufell promptly returned my call and scheduled a day and time that was convenient for me to meet him so he could assess the work and render a cost estimate. Tim and I walked the property and discussed the work to be performed, taking note of the location of the underground septic tank and leaching field. Tim?s cost estimate included 2 additional trees that he suggested be removed (for a total of 6 trees) and was still within my budget, so I awarded Neufell Tree and Landscape the job. Tim informed me that a very large Willow, which I perceived would be the problem child, required a bucket truck and access from the abutting property to remove since it extended up and over a fence along the property line. He also informed me of the likelihood of damage to the lawn from the downed tree and large limbs which would be dragged into the driveway and either split into firewood or ground into wood chips. I obtained permission from the property management company who was very familiar with this Willow and the danger it posed, for Neufell Tree & Landscape to drive the bucket truck onto the abutting property. Tim and crew arrived on the scheduled date and immediately got to work; systematically and carefully removing the trees, starting with the Willow. Half-way through the job, it started to rain, which makes tree removal a more hazardous job than it already is, so Tim and crew called it quits and arrived back the next morning to complete the work. The remaining trees were quickly removed and they spent the next several hours doing a very thorough clean-up of the yard to remove any visible sawdust and branches. Tim and his crew worked extremely hard and conducted themselves as professionals the entire time they were at the job site. My wife and I are very pleased with the service we received from Neufell Tree & Landscape and the price we paid for the work.
Description of Work: Removed 6 large trees; trimmed back one large limb overhanging fence into neighbor's yard; conducted thorough cleanup of all visible sawdust and branches.

We were very lucky and they came and accomplished the work on our downed trees only two days after the hurricane. We thought we would need to wait weeks. They were very careful removing the tree that had fallen onto the garage roof and onto a special bush of ours. We did not go out for bids because tree guys were so busy that week, but their pricing seemed very good. It took another couple of weeks until their subcontractor removed the big wood, but it was out of the way and they were no doubt extremely busy following the hurricane. Our only disappointment is that we are left with two ugly vertical root balls. I called and they said that this is never part of tree removal and would cost up to a couple of hundred dollars more to remove because they would have to subcontract that work and it is difficult to deal with. Perhaps the crew could have pushed the root balls back into the holes at the time and we would not be needing stump removal (since they wouldn't look so bad). Now the dirt from the root ball has washed into the holes, so pushing them back down is no longer possible.
Description of Work: They removed two evergreen trees that fell down during the hurricane, took down two dead trees and a hanging branch in yet another tree. They ground up anything under about a foot in diameter, plus some other branches that had fallen during the storm. They contracted with another vendor to remove the 8-foot lengths of the tree trunks.

No complaints – the job went very well. They accidently knocked over and broke one of our birdfeeders when one of the trees came down. We told him not to worry, it was fine. However, he went out of his way to go to a local hardware store and return with another birdfeeder (even better than what we had). Overall, we were very pleased with the service and results. We would use him again and recommend him.
Description of Work: We contacted this company to get an estimate to clean up extensive tree damage from last October 2011’s ice storm. The work involved several trees that were extremely high and would require a bucket truck as well as several trees that would need to come completely down. Tim was the 1st tree company out of two others we contacted to call us back and came out quickly to review the work. We walked the property and added additional clean-up work as we went. There were many overhanging branches and smaller trees that needed to be removed. He was knowledgeable and offered good suggestions. We accepted Tim's proposal based on price and Angie’s List ratings. The job took 2 separate visits due to the type of work about a week apart. They were prompt and professional. They performed the work as agreed and even some extras. They cleaned up the yard, walkways, driveway and road completely.

Tim was responsive to our request for a quote and was professional throughout the entire process. He and his crew knew their business, were efficient and completed the work safely. I was very pleasantly suprised when they raked up all the small branches and leaves left behind - the yard was cleaner than they found it! His price was extremely competitive and the quality was great. I would recommend Nuefell Tree Service to anyone.

The job went extremely well. Tim was very punctual in all of our meetings. He arrived on time for the estimate discussion and returned phone calls within a day. The job was performed as described and he also cleaned up the yard after the job. The wood was either stacked neatly in one corner of our yard or at least left in small piles off the lawn. He did a very neat and tidy job. We were very happy with the results. We really felt we got our money's worth.
Description of Work: We needed to have about 12 damaged trees of various sizes around our yard cut down. These were trees damaged from the October 2011 storm. We requested to have the trees cut down and cut up into firewood size lengths, and have all the brush removed/chipped. Neufell Tree was one of four companies we requested estimates from based on good reviews from Angie's List. We accepted Tim's proposal based on price.

Just moved back into Westford, Ma and didn't know any landscapers so I went on Angie's list and called 7 landscapers to stop by and give me an estimate for downed tree limbs in my yard and to remove some tree limbs ultimately threatening my house. Tim was one of three people who responded. Tim gave me an estimate that was 1/2 the price of the others. He was neat, did the work quickly and his price was great. I'll hire him again if he's not too busy from all the work he's probably going to get from these accolades.
Description of Work: took down one huge limb, broken off and near the house. He had to climb up and secure branch before cutting it off and lowering it. Cut off 5-10 more branches threatening the house but left one, not too menacing, which added to aesthetics of the house. Cut down some more large branches and left tree looking pretty good. Extracted one very large branch which had fallen into some evergreens about 12 feet up from ground. Chipped it all up and hauled it off.

All work was performed expertly and with great care by the owner and two workmen. No damage was done to anything nearby, above or below ground (house, garage, septic system). The big, strong sycamore was a real challenge. The owner climbed it more than half way up, cutting off the largest, thickest branches piece by piece first and gently lowering them to the ground. He did this in order to lighten the weight of the falling tree and thus diminish the blow to the driveway - the only unobstructed direction available. Afterward, the workers chain sawed the sycamore trunk into chunks for landscaping purposes, and cut up suitable branches into sections for splitting into firewood. They then fed what was left (the 'brush') into their chipper and took the load with them as they left, but not before sweeping the driveway and blowing away all the debris and saw dust that had accumulated. Throughout, they were courteous and cheerful, not to mention being thankful for the coffee I brought out in the morning, and the tip I gave at the end of the day. In summary, I could not have asked for a better team or better work.
Description of Work: Removal of sycamore (50-60 feet tall with a 2-foot diameter trunk) right in front of house, as well as two pines (40' tall with 1' diameter trunks) in font yard.
