Frank had a very comparable quote to the other estimates I received, but I hired him because he worked alone...I knew that what I told him & asked for wouldn't get lost in translation if there were more workers in his group. It took Frank about 2-1/2 days to complete the work, which was all outside. He was very informative & helped guide me in the purchasing of my fixtures. The work was done a bit slower, but because he works alone & does quality work, I didn't mind. It was the little details that really made me a super-satisfied customer. Without asking, he rewired my garage door opener to free up an outlet & save me the money of installing a new one. He also found that the existing wires that were buried for the post light weren't grounded, so he fixed that while he was here. He also replaced the light switches to nice clean, white ones, which he didn't have to do. While he was working on the patio, he broke one of my flower pots because the plant rack it was on was wobbly. Although the pot was only about $10, he installed the overhead light in my kid's playroom at no charge. A few days later, I saw that he used zip ties to secure those wobbly shelves to prevent an accident again. These are the little courteous details that you rarely see in service provides today. I'd gladly refer Frank to anyone needing electrical work and I would definitely hire him again in the future.

Frank promptly scheduled an appointment for an estimate, showed up on time, and walked me through the projects. I was very impressed with the variety of services he offers his customers, and I liked him a lot, especially his communications skills. He answered my questions thoroughly and without condescension.I spent time over the weekend reviewing all the estimates I had from electricians. Frank's price was fair, comparable to at least one other company, but what set him apart is that he personally would be doing the work, instead of a crew that I hadn't met. I called him at the beginning of the week to tell him that I would like him to do the work and would he please call me to answer some questions. (I didn't say in the message, but I wanted to get an insurance binder, have the written estimate updated to include a project we had discussed but he (we) forgot to put in writing, get a tentative schedule for starting work, and ask if he would honor the Angie's List coupon.) I didn't hear back, so I left another message at the end of the week. I still didn't hear by Monday, so I left a 3rd (unprecedented for me!) message asking him to let me know if he was interested in the work or if I should look elsewhere. I still haven't heard. I am disappointed because he impressed me as someone who would be able to serve my electrical needs for many years. I gave him a grade of 'C' because the form requires me to give a grade. I honestly don't know what to think. My guess is that as a one-man operation he gets busy and some things fall to the wayside. But I can't help wondering if he was my regular electrician (as I'd hoped he'd become) and I had an emergency, would I be left in the dark? ***UPDATE: Frank called me the morning after I posted this review. He had been working around the clock to finish a big job and wasn't in the office to get messages and return calls. I did not have his cell phone number (but I do now); he says in an emergency he would have been able to respond. I decided to hire him after all because I am also self-employed and understand how difficult it can be to juggle office work and the direct work with clients/customers. I will post another review after the work is completed. ***UPDATE: Now that Frank has completed the work, I want to say that I couldn't be happier. He is every bit as good as other reviewers have said. His work is meticulous, he is a true professional, and his customer service is above and beyond the call of duty. The work was upgrading from fuses to 200Amp, a generator hookup, and connecting roof de-icing coils. I had to call him with questions about the generator (after losing power in the Oct. snowstorm) and he called back promptly and answered my questions, He even stopped by before the storm to fix my thermostats and again during the storm (after midnight) to help with the generator. I especially appreciate that he is an excellent communicator. He thoroughly explained the work he was going to do and advised me with some decisions (such as where the generator outlet should go). He is absolutely a gem: an honest, hard-working, competent, decent guy. If the ratings allowed a grade higher than A, that's what I'd give him.

Frank called me right back after I left him a message, and rearranged his schedule to come the next day to hook up the new water heater which was installed hours earlier that same day. Outstanding service, and much appreciated as we had no hot water in the house!

The lighting fixture and switch were installed quickly and without any complications.

Frank Gibbons is a real professional who maintains very high standards and has a genuine commitment to customer service. My first experience with Frank was 11:00 on a winter night when my power went off. Alone with small kids, I started madly calling local electricians. Frank came right away and fixed the problem. My second experience was when I called Frank to install a new TV and a new light switch in a basement stairwell. He had to fish the wire around the corner through the wall. The job took twice as long as he thought it would, but he didn't complain. On Frank's first visit to price out the lighting job, he discussed the various options with me including location, types of lights, and angle of lights. He was comfortable making recommendations and willing to talk with me about pros and cons. When he returned to do the job, we talked again about where the lights should go but after he finished installing the lights, I complained about shadows; we decided to add a couple more lights. He was perfectly gracious about the prospect of cutting more holes in my ceiling. I also asked him to install one light over a painting where two had been originally. Frank spackled the old holes without my asking and used his own vacuum to clean the floor. Frank was not happy with the quality of some of the trims the store had given him. He returned to the store twice to get trims that satisfied him and then installed more expensive trims without an upcharge.

It went great! Frank was running a little late, but was sure to call me to let me know he would be by shortly. He was friendly, and walked me through a lot of the work as he was doing it. He was thorough, put everything back as he found it, and fixed my problem in about an hour! I just moved into a new house, and discovered that I have a kind of garbage disposal that I have never seen before. It requires a stopper be inserted into the drain in order for it to run (as a safety measure). I would have never known this if it weren't for Frank! I feel like he did me a big favor by unplugging my drain/garbage disposal (meaning I didn't have to call a plumber as well).

Everything went great. We havent had any problems with them. They were very prompt and approachable with questions.

Sleep was ruined the night before because old smoke detectors kept going off (piercing all night on and off!). Had to shut off circuit breaker to get quiet. Called FX's emergency number in the morning and Frank scheduled appt. for that afternoon. Described the different smoke detectors available at different price points. We opted for units that detected CO as well as smoke, and had a silencer button for false alarms when cooking - happens a lot in our house. Frank was very professional, when he knew he would be late, called in advance to let me know he'd be half an hour later, and showed up exactly on time. Did all the work in a timely manner and also checked out a couple of outlets that were problematic, and adjusted them. Will use him in the future for other projects.

Overall, the experience was great. I had a smell and had no idea what it was or where it was coming from. I called him in the evening and we discussed the problem over the phone; he instructed me to check some things out and unplug some things. He then told me he would come out to my home at 8am the next day. The next day, right at 8am, the electrician arrived. He checked everything thoroughly and figured out what was wrong and the reason behind it. He was incredibly informative, nice and pleasant. I will definitely use him for all my electrical services from now on.

It went very well and he is punctuality , responsive and professional.

We were referred to FX Electric (Frank Gibbons) by our kitchen remodeler. From the start, Frank was professional and responsive. We excahnged calls and arranged for Frank come our house for an estimate. Frank reviewed the scope of work and he explained clearly and in detail what he would need to do get the outlet installed. I found him to be honest, personable and he gave me a straight forward estimate. Frank arrived at our house on Saturday morning on time and when right to work. He was respectful of our home and minimized the number of holes needed to snake the wire to the kitchen wall. During the outlet installation, Frank discovered another kitchen outlet incorrectly installed by a previous Electrician and spent at least 20 minutes "repairing" the issues with the other outlet. When I acknowledged this was outside the scope of the original estimate, he said he would not charge me for "fixing" this additional outlet. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. My wife and I would definitely hire him again and recomend him to family and friends.

good. These are really nice people. sometimes a little hard to get in touch with, but good work, and punctual and good prices.

He is very polite, courteous and professional. His pricing is very reasonable as well. He is very flexible in breaking up the price and is ok if I pay him as and when he does the job. The quality of his work is good and I have been satisfied with his work.

I had no idea how I would ever be able to install a ceiling fan in the 1st floor room we wanted to put it in; at least not without ripping apart ceilings and walls. We called Frank at FX. What probably would have taken me a day or more to do, if I could even do it at all, Frank did in a little over an hour. Where I would have destroyed walls and the ceiling Frank was able to do everything with only a small hole in the wall (smaller than a deck of cards). Truly amazing!

He did a good job but things seemed a little rushed.

They were great. The owner came out and we were kind of in a rush because we were moving and he managed to fit us into the schedule even though I don't think they really had that much time. The rates were reasonable and I would definitely recommend them.

We initially had trouble connecting, leaving voice mails for each other several times, but he was persistent and finally we talked and arranged a time for the work. He arrived right on time, did the work quickly and well and had a spare part that was needed in his truck. Very smooth and pleasant experience.

He responded immediately. He temporarily fixed it until he could get to it the next day to complete the job. I would recommend him to others. I felt comfortable.

Even though we measured the new cooktop, it did not fit in the opening of the old cooktop. So Frank had to enlarge the countertop opening, a little on either side so the cooktop would be properly centered. This resulted in the job taking longer and costing more than we expected.

FX did the work quickly and well; then charged us considerably less than the quote because it went quicker than expected. Unheard of!

After Gibbons' estimate we approached two other electricians and found his to be the most convincing and comprehensive. We called him back, therefore, and asked him when he might start. He did not return my call. A week later I called again. Again he did not return my call. A week after that I called one more time and he has yet to return my call. (I suspect that he decided that the job would be beyond his capacity or would cost more than he estimated and therefore decided to back out of this job, taking the easy way out by not calling to explain.) Not surprisingly, we chose another electrician.

Frank was able to schedule an appointment for an estimate quickly, which I appreciated, but on that day his appointment time came and went - no Frank. I called his business number and spoke with (I believe) his wife who called his cell to find out that he was running late. Ultimately he arrived an hour late, which I found frustrating because if he had a cell phone he might have let me know earlier so I could make a later appointment. Once here he looked at the work to be done and was very pessimistic about doing it for less than $5K. He felt it would be necessary to run our service underground. I pushed him on the other options that other electricians had offered (running a pole up the side of the house to attach the wire to) but he dismissed that quickly, even though it would save us thousands. Overall I was left feeling frustrated that he didn't seem to take our practical (i.e., financial) needs into account. Other than that, a very nice guy and I'm sure he does quality work.

Frank Gibbons was extremely courteous and punctual. He did exactly what I asked him to do in the job estimate and a little more. He did a lot of work and also did a nice job of cleaning up too. He even got us a discount for our new lamp!

I got a very fast response to my initial phone call, and we were able to schedule the work within a day. The job was completed quickly and well!

I had a poor experience with another company that a neighbor recommended. I wanted the units to be on separate electrical meters. The company made it look great. They were polite and nice, but they did a terrible job. I called Mr. Gibbons at FX, and he made everything right. I've used him several times since, and he is very responsive. He has even come late at night to restore power. He is respectful and gives good advice.
