AJR WALLBOARD and PLASTERING

Called AJR Wallboard in January for bid to drywall and plaster sunroom that we had already done the demo in. Had used them years ago to replace water damaged area of ceilings in other parts of house and was pleased with the work. Andrew promised the job would be done in one day and by 3 that afternoon his guys had left and job not completed. Strike one. I was concerned about a window seat that had been boxed out by a carpenter (that he recommended) and I had noticed it was not wall boarded on the inside. I mentioned it on the visit to complete the job and he said he would handle it....left the job not completed and said the carpenter would finish it. Strike two. The overall work on the walls and ceilings was good. Very little touch up needed before we painted...but the carpenter did a terrible job finishing the window seat. I did not follow up with Andrew. I will just not use his services again. He also questioned the bid he gave me and then realized he had made a mistake. Strike three

Getting ready for a kitchen remodeling, my husband and I removed the old back splash.  While doing so, we decided we needed a plasterer to come in and fix the wall where the old backsplash was.  This was kind of an emergency situation since the cabinets were due to come in the next week.  We called Andrew on a Saturday, he answered the phone and said he would be out the next day, Sunday to take a look.  He arrived when he said he would - around 1 pm and gave us an estimate and said he would be able to do the work the next week.  We had to delay the cabinets, but that was ok because we needed the plastering done.  His crew came in after a few days and did an excellent job.  The walls looke very smooth and ready for the new back splash.  We also had them widen our refrigerator area so we can purchase a larger one.  We would hire them again.

They showed up on time, did the work as expected, and cleaned up after themselves.

The start of the Memorial Day weekend Friday 5/25/12 my tenant came home to find water dripping down from the vacant apt. above, her ceiling was falling down along with the ceiling and light fixture water was everywhere it had gotten in to her kitchen T.V. and the box.The toilet tank on the second floor was overflowing sending water everywhere on the second floor and also to the first floor. After drying up both floors on Friday I checked into Angies List and signed up.several I checked out different companies that did plastering on the list and found a several that were within 10 miles of my location.I gave A J R wallboard & Plastering a call on Saturday and he came out Saturday afternoon looked over the damage and gave me and estimate of the cost to repair the damage which to me was reasonable.Tuesday morning work had begun, his guys showed up on time put up the wallboard and plastered the wallboard.Thursday, the electrician showed up  to replace the box and wire in a switch for the ceiling light. Andy wanted to come in on Friday to finish the job, but i asked if he could wait until the following Wednesday to give the tenants time to shop for a new ceiling light. Andy came Friday to finish the job of painting over the plaster however my tenant had already painted the ceiling thinking that the work was done.  Andy knocked off what he would have charged for painting.
P,S. I also had Andy button up a plaster wall in a hallway and plaster over the crack in the plaster all part of the estimate.

Andrew and crew repaired my formal dining room ceiling. This is the fourth time I've had this done over 6 years (sadly). AJR had the lowest price by a significant margin and since I've seen it done by three other companies...I can say without hesitation that AJR is the best I've used. I will be using them again and can't recommend them highly enough.
My expectations were met at each turn. Friendly and responsive on the phone. Timely and professional in my home. Clean exit beyond what's necessary. Under quoted budget...happy customer.

This is an old House (1815) house so nothing in the house is straight. When it was first completed there was a bulge in the middle of the ceiling (due to the shape of the house) but Andrew's crew was able to fix the situation so it was not noticable. They did a great job and I plan to hire them again for another room in the near future.

AJR responded quickly to my quote request, coming over within a 1/2 hour. Once the blue board install was complete, AJR came back in, taped and finish beading on corners and did the skim coat. Other quotes were 2 times the price AJR quoted and did the work promptly, cleanly, with a minimum of mess (plastic on floors between bath and outside, etc.

Work was done very professionally, finished walls were plumb, and smooth - ready for painting after a couple of days for curing.

His first name is Andrew.  He repaired it.  He had two workers with him.  He was very nice and polite.  He was neat, quick, and efficient.  He cleaned up after himself.  This is not really a complaint per se, but I think a lot of service providers assume that we lay people know what's included.  I was a little surprised that afterwards he said it would take about three days to dry.  He said if I wanted to have him come back to prime and paint it, it would cost extra money.  That surprised me because I thought the price that he charged was inclusive of everything.  I don't blame him.  I just didn't know and he probably thought I did know.  That was a little disappointing, and I'm kind of broke right now.  Other than that he was really nice and wonderful.  He provided excellent value.

Needed an urgent kitchen wall replastering done in the middle of having new granite countertops installed. They were the first ones to respond to numerous requests and did the install the next day! Did outstanding work. My only complaint was it was a bit pricy for what turned out to only be a 90 minute job. Still they came through in a pinch!
