FYI, I just joined Angie's List so I have only a few reviews at this time
Originally, I asked Mr. Ronchetti to provide a quotation to install a French drain, but I decided, after doing more research, that it would be more cost-effective to just restore the walls, as there was no significant moisture issues that could not be controlled by a high quality dehumidifier (75-100 pints/hour). (Years earlier, I had Mr. Ronchetti install a double sump pump, which was highly effective keeping water out of the basement during heavy storms or post-Winter drainage). The 50-year old original stucco had separated and was falling off of the poured concrete walls and needed repair. I contacted Mr. Ronchetti to perform the work and scheduled it. All of the work was completed exactly as promised. The price was fair and competitive. I know this because I obtained four other quotations. I would hire Mr. Ronchetti again whenever I have need for any kind of masonry work and most strongly recommend him and his fine staff.
I feel confident that we went with the right company and appreciated the thorough job Charles did during the site visit. He was there for an hour listening to out concerns, hearing the history of the project, and exploring the site. The price did seem a little high for two days of work, but I think you pay for what you get. This was quality work! Also, though they reported a month wait, they were able to get in there sooner. If you want to solve your problem, these are the guys!
I received a call mid-September confirming that they would be preforming the work at that time, and would call the day before they arrived. It was very rainy (causing delays) and I was not contacted again. I called in mid-October and asked "what happened?" and was told that they could have a team out tomorrow. I accepted, and the workers showed up on-time the next day.
There had been a communication issue, and the workers had arrived with bluestone (not brick) for the steps, no equipment to pull the bushes, and no jackhammers for demolition. The team called the office for the supplies/tools they needed and immediately set to work on what they could accomplish - such as demolishing the concrete apron by hand with mattocks. While less noisy/disruptive to us and the neighbors it seemed really inefficient. By the end of the 1st day they had removed all of the damaged brick, the bushes, and re-cast the apron.
On the second day, they finished the work (repairing the stairs, grading the soil & adding ice& water shield & gravel, and righting the tipping retaining wall). The grade appeared inadequate - I guess it's just hard to judge 5 percent with your eyes - but a water test showed it to be OK. I also wish they had compacted the soil (I assumed this was included, but did not get verbally or in writing that they would). The bill arrived a week later for the full amount (they did not require a deposit); exactly as quoted.
We've not had any major rains since then, but there was no water infiltration during Hurricane Sandy, and the steps look pretty good.
Several months after the work was done I contacted Charles again regarding the grade of the garage floor. Water from the car would run into an area we did not want it in. That was something he had anticipated but there was no better solution at the time.
He came out and resurfaced the part of the garage and fixed the problem AT NO COST. I offered to pay for it since it was not really a problem with his initial work but he did not want to get paid for it.
He obviously stands behind his work and guarantees it.
Very professional and very high quality at a great price. I would definitely use Charles again and recommend him.
I had also gotten estimates from another popular local company for basement waterproofing (with a pet in their name) and they were more expensive and did not come up with the easier solution. I also did not like how they approached the problem with the discharged water probably affecting your neighbor.
So definitely go with Charles!
Battery went dead on 10-18-12. we are waiting for a call back.
Very professional. Punctual and good work. A little pricey but the quality of work and service is there.
They did a great job and showed up when they said they would, I would not hesitate to recommend this company.
