 + -1 morePhilip Porter's crew of two spend about two hours on our roof to remove significant ice build-up. They did not have a steamer available for removal but still managed to remove the ice without any visible damage to the roof.

Description of Work: We have used Porter Builders for a range of remodeling projects in our house - a laundry room, a bathroom makeover (after a plumbing problem), floor re-sanding and more. We have the highest possible opinion of Phil - he is responsive, professional and completely reliable. The work is impeccable. His team (plumbers, painters, sanders, electricians, etc) is exceptionally skilled and professional (I suspect in part because they respect him as much as his customers do). He stays in touch and he meets his commitments - including in getting the work done within the time agreed. His pricing is fair and very reasonable. Porter Builders of a company - we recommend it 100%
Description of Work: Porter Builders has undertaken several remodelling projects for us - from emergency stuff (leaky/moldy ceiling related to significant plumbing issue), to long needed (installing A/C system) to the wish list (a beautiful updated laundry room, re-doing a bathroom, re-sanding old parquay floors).

 + 2 moreTheir price was in the same range as the three other quotes I received. I was very satisfied with the finished work. Considering the bathroom needed a total gut, I was impressed with their ability to set expectations up front when the project would be completed (they met the time frame originally outlined) and when they would be on-site to perform the work. Philip was extremely responsive, always answering my calls which is something I've rarely experienced with other contractors. One thing that set them apart was their ability to assist with designing the bathroom. Porter Builders works directly with a licensed architect which was helpful since I'm not overly creative.
Description of Work: I hired Porter Builders to remodel a bathroom and perform some additional maintenance on the entry way stairs to our condo. The bathroom work was a complete gut renovation to an original bathroom that most likely hadn't seen an update in 80 years. The entry work was a partial renovation to a wood deck/staircase leading into our building.

 + -1 moreThey agreed to remodel the kitchen. Then they kept moving the start date forward. First it was to be in the fall of 2011, then it moved to Feb/March of 2012. After not hearing from them, I emailed them asking "Are we still on target to redo the kitchen in the Feb/March time frame? ". The response was "After reviewing our current commitments and spring schedule we are too busy to do your project." No apology or explanation was given. It seems that their business practices are too disorganized to track commitments that they have made. We wasted 6 months and now have to start all over with another company.
