Outlook Home Inspection

Mohan was just phenomenal. We called him on a Friday to see if he could do a home inspection for a house we plan to buy. I had difficulty scheduling a time when he and my buyers agent were both free, so Mohan called my agent himself to work out the schedule. Within 5 minutes of calling Mohan, I had an inspection scheduled for the next day. The appointment was for 1pm and he said it would take about 1.5 hours. We arrived a few minutes before 1pm and Mohan had already arrived and inspected the roof — he came early because it was going to rain and he wanted to still safely inspect the roof. During COVID19, Mohan was very clear ahead of time how we were all going to maintain safety. He wore a mask the entire time and had a laser pointer to show us stuff from a safe distance. He took pictures of everything. He explained everything and was so patient with us, especially as first time home buyers. Mohan also isn’t alarmist but still very upfront about potential repairs. For example, Mohan would say that we should replace the hot water heater because of leaking and explained how much it would cost. He also would show us stuff that didn’t need to be fixed now but should be fixed within the next X amount of years. He even showed us preventive stuff - for example, the gutter downspouts were draining right next to the home, which has a stone foundation and can be highly susceptible to water damage. Mohan suggested to buy a dehumidifier and place it in the basement to prevent moisture and prevent damage that hadnt even occurred. The appointment was for 1pm Saturday and by end of the day, I had received a written report of his inspection.

Mohan arrived early to get an overall sense of the house before we arrived at the start time; this helped to efficiently drive the overall inspection and conversation. He is very knowledgeable, thorough and informative; we learned so much about proper homeownership. He is also incredibly professional and kind, offering us some cold water at the end given that it was a hot and humid day. The report he sent post-inspection was very intuitive and inclusive, making it easy to move the conversation forward with the seller on contract work that must be done near and short term. Mohan was extremely thorough, friendly, and professional. I felt as though in another life he would make a very effective detective as he noticed a variety of non-inspection details also (like an old box of bullets tucked into the other corner of dusty basement he was inspecting). His report had high quality digital pictures of all defects found. He was also able to recommend appliances and service providers to remedy some of the issues he found. I would enthusiastically recommend him to others looking for inspection services.

Mohan was very professional in his work and his report was of an excellent quality and very detailed. He arrived early for the condo inspection and had already started looking at the real estate. During the inspection, he really took the time to explain the importance of everything in such a way that a lay person would understand. As a first time buyer, it was very helpful having Mohan explain the various aspects of a home, down to the very minute detail, to know what to expect if we were to purchase a home. It allowed us to realize that the first place we saw wasn’t as good as we thought, and for our second location, the inspection reassured that the home was worth purchasing. The report that comes out afterward is very helpful especially with the many photos Mohan takes throughout the process, and the request list that you can set up allows for easy explanation to the various professionals that we’ll use to address issues. Knowing what is a priority as opposed to a future repair eased our concern about budgeting additional costs to a home purchase. Mohan was very professional and did a great job teaching us about what it takes to take care of a house.

Mohan did an excellent job going through the property and explaining every detail of what he was doing. He gave a lot of helpful advice and was very clear about what type of repairs the condo would need. He took his time and did not rush things. The report he provided also listed things in an easy-to-understand way, and it looks like it will make things easy for me once I decide to hire contractors to work on the unit.

Mohan was responsive, informative, and helpful starting with our very first communication. We contacted him on Friday and he was able to fit us in on Sunday. I arrived 15 minutes early and he was already there inspecting the exterior. And took the time to walk around the entire house again with us to point things out in detail. He told us we didn't have to write anything down because it would be in his report, and it was true. The report was incredibly comprehensive with excellent, clear photos. Everything in the report was clearly categorized such as safety issues and major issues. Walking around the house with him was incredibly valuable as Mohan took the time to explain each part of the inspection and answer all of our questions. We were looking at an older home and he made sure we understood things we may not be familiar with and how they work. He took the time to point out the good things, not just the not-so-good. We would definitely use his services again.

Highly recommended!! Mohan Singh is a consummate professional and a joy to work with. I was thinking of purchasing a condo in Cambridge, and found Outlook Home Inspection through a recommendation of my broker. The web site ([*** Link removed ***] seemed professional and informative so I gave them a call and Mohan explained the process and got things moving quickly. A few days later I met him at the property and he guided me through the entire inspection, explaining what he was looking for, pointing out things that needed attention, and offering advice. I simply could not be more pleased with his thoroughness and clarity of communication. Honestly, I rarely write reviews - and more often it is to complain about something - but I feel compelled to write this positive review because it's rare that an experience goes so nicely. Buying a home is stressful experience and this was one special bright spot in my experience.

great inspector. he arrived a half hour early. he was able to squeeze me in on a sunday with just 1 day's notice. the report was clear and contained photos of everything with clear arrows showing any issues he found. would definitely use again. cost included radon testing.

Mohan of Outlook Home inspection was fantastic to work with! He was extremely responsive in setting up the appointment and was punctual and professional. He uses the most advanced technology and his experience and background allow him to see and comment on many things others likely would not. Not only is he extremely thorough, he is also very personable and really takes the time to teach you about the home, I learned so much with him; which is invaluable when you are purchasing a house. His reports are returned very promptly and are extremely informative, well laid out, and have excellent pictures which accompany every finding when applicable. The website is easy to use and has great functionality for creating work lists and sending to inspection to other people. The company was very responsive. They came to complete the inspection right away, after we called them. He was flexible in setting up a time that worked for us, and the other real estate parties, and worked within our tight time line. He arrived early on inspection day, answered questions that came up during the inspection, made certain we were informed about where important shutoff valves are located in our new home and provided a very thorough inspection report with photos and punch lists--making the process of prioritizing, fixing, and maintaining our home much smoother. We used Mohan twice over the course of our house hunt, one for a pre-consultation and once for a full blown home inspection after our offer had been accepted. In both situations Mohan was nothing but a professional and extremely pleasant to deal with. For our inspection, he showed up early and was already taking photos of the exterior when we arrived, and proceeded to walk us through a detailed yet thoroughly interesting process. He paid extreme careful attention to detail, and was more than willing to explain any potential issues either large or small, which we found very helpful as first time home buyers. Our realtor, who had been of countless more inspections than we had, agreed on all fronts. In all the inspection took roughly 2.5 hours, and Mohan provided an easy to use and detailed follow up report. In summary Mohan was fantastic, and we would highly recommend.

Mohan (our inspector) was there early. It was raining on the day of the inspection, and when we arrived he had already gone around the outside of the building and started making notes and taking pictures! We started going around immediately, and Mohan pointed out that the rain was a good thing, because we'd locate leaks more easily (spoiler: there was a leak in the basement). Mohan noticed issues with the roof, the vinyl sidings, some small masonry issues I wouldn't have noticed, and explained why we should have the basement wood window frames repainted before the winter (to prevent the wood from soaking water and getting damaged while covered in snow). We went through the entire condo in roughly 2 hours. Our inspector would look at a new room, take pictures, then pause and explain everything: what he'd looked for, what he found, how important fixing it was, and what priority to give it. We located issues with steel beams in the basement (excessively short support columns that were padded with wood pieces to reach the ceiling instead of being extended with properly fastened metal extensions), leaks, corrosion on various pipes, and a host of other small issues. After completing the inspection, Mohan gave us a high-level summary and a general assessment. In our case, the place was in overall great shape. Mohan produced a comprehensive report after the inspection completed, as a very readable PDF sorted by location in the home, showing pictures along with descriptions of each defect, and recommendations for fixes. The report also included a recap at the end of every defect sorted by severity, with an FYI category for things that were not defects but were useful to know (where master switches for gas and water were, for example — that was a neat plus). This report, and Mohan's explanations, were a key part of making us feel safe about or offer, and getting a clear picture of the state of the condo we were purchasing. We move in last month, and we're now making plans to address all of the issues, in decreasing order of importance. This inspection was extremely well done, by a courteous, friendly, and professional inspector. Thanks Mohan for the awesome work!
