What hard-working people! We were impressed by how determined the leader (Stephen Carey) was to get this job done. The day he was scheduled to do the work, it turned out that his truck was out of commission -- so he put the tools in a CAR and attached the ladder to it, somehow, and made it to our house in Newton at the scheduled time. Did I mention that the high that day was around 10 degrees? And with a wind-chill factor to something impossible. But he and his helper did the work -- banging and scraping for hours -- getting the icicles off and making room for water to get through to ice dams. Also very significant: Our large deck (with furniture still on it) was 6-feet of snow. They not only removed enough snow to get the weight off, but went the extra step to move all of the furniture off of the deck -- to get a completely shoveled clean deck. Finally, not realizing that they were finished and putting the ladder up on the roof, I went out to ask about a particular area of the roof that I was concerned about. They looked at it --- then took the ladder OFF of the car, carried it over (freezing cold after hours of being outside) and did some more ice removal. It was minor, but gave me peace of mind. We will hire them again in spring to fix some flashing, as they do other roofing work as well.
