JAMES SMALL BUILDING AND REMODELING

James Small pulled the permit for a garage/mudroom/bathroom addition for Thomas Shaw, who was not licensed to do such work (no HIC or General contractor license). I signed the contract with Thomas Shaw, and did not know of James Small until 5 months into the project when i noted the permit showed James Small as the contractor. Thomas Shaw misrepresented himself as being licensed and capable of doing this addition, and James Small aided him in this fraud by allowing him to use his license for an undisclosed fee. James Small showed at my house for several of the town inspections and told the inspectors he was working the job with Thomas Shaw, which is untrue. When i spoke with James Small regarding the problems with Thomas Shaw's work, James Small told me he would finish the job with his company and employees, and i waited 6 weeks for him to finish a job, before coming to my house. After 6 week, James Small indicated he had not intention of finishing the job, and after a very difficult and frightening telephone conversation, told me to go ahead and sue him.
