1. Brodeur didn’t measure the width of the backyard before submitting a written bid in which he stated “french drain of about 100’. I trusted his expertises and accepted the bid. He measured the yard the day he started the job, he painted the line of approximately 150’ for dig safe. He didn’t inform me of the conflict, he didn’t say that he measured 150’ instead of 100’. It was a BAIT and SWITCH. 2. The original bid was for the entire job: putting french drain across the entire width of the backyard, not a 100’. 3. “NO SHOW”, Brodeur didn’t show up the next day after starting the job. I told him I would be out of town for a few days. He deliberately didn’t show up while I was home. During this time he left rented equipment sitting idle. 4. I asked to continue with the french drain for last 50’. It was supposed to be burito wrap style of the drain, the same way the first 100’ were done. But instead, he changed the job. I got a bend to the right pipe at 45 degree angle, uphill, just inches under the soil. Only a few inches of rock around the pipe for the first 10 feet, the rest of the 50’ pipe has no rock around it. After 2 heavy rainstorms, the loose soil washed out and uncovered that there is no french drain, but a misplaced pipe. 5. I was charged more, in addition to original bid for a total 50’ deception. I didn’t get the french drain completed but I was billed more per foot than the first 100 feet. I dug 4 test holes to check Brodeur’s work. I found a misplaced pipe in a sock but no stone or fabric just inches under the ground. 6. Brodeur charged me for material he didn’t purchase: stone, filter fabric & loam. There was no stone or filter fabric in 4 test holes. The last 50 feet didn’t have any screened loam on it. Conclusion: Brodeur changed the job to a shotty pipe running uphill with a 45 degree bend. It has to be totally re-done. Brodeur didn’t inform me about any discrepancies between the bid and the actual measurement. Brodeur didn’t tell me the width is longer that 100 feet before starting the job, he didn’t tell me he wasn’t putting the french drain for the last 50 feet. He refused to meet me in person when I informed him about the problems I have with his job.
