I really liked the guys personally, but cannot recommend hiring this company. I posted exactly what I was looking for from the beginning - a 6' cedar fence. I also detailed the quotes I had already received and my $4k budget for the job. They contacted me and said based on the description, they would be in the $4k to $4.5k range. They showed up for the onsite evaluation and already had a quote printed up - for $4.8k without anything changing yet from my original description. We discussed turning one 8' section into a double gate and it was agreed they could do so within the quoted price. I received an updated, more detailed quote, and noticed the materials were now specified as pressure treated SPF. I reiterated that the material definitely had to be cedar. I assumed they would not be able to do the job for the quoted price now as cedar would cost more, and said thanks, but time to move on. He responded that to the contrary, they could switch to the better materials and keep the same price, I reluctantly agreed, fearing something had to give somewhere in the budget. I then got a message that due to the increased cost of materials, he would like me to buy the hardware for the gates to help offset that. Again, I was ready to move on. He contacted me again and said to disregard that, let's go ahead and do the deal, cedar fence and no need for me to buy any additional materials. I really liked them and was hoping for a family run business that might put more care and quality into the job than a big company, so I proceeded with the job giving them a $1,000 deposit. It was supposed to start on Monday morning and take two days, maybe a 3rd day if the weather did not cooperate or they ran into any other issues. At 8:30 Monday morning after asking about an ETA, I got an email that they had an "emergency fix" that came up on Sunday with another customer and would be unable to start our job on Monday. Ok, delays happen, but a heads up when the situation arose on Sunday would have been nice. On Tuesday they arrived at 10:30. They worked for less than 4 hours and I heard the van start up and leave at 2:15. I thought maybe they had gone to get a bite to eat or something. Nope, they did not return. I went out to check on the progress and could not have been more disappointed. There were 3 posts in the ground and 2 sections of fence. The quality of the fence was terrible. It was clear that these were cheap, pre-made panels from Home Depot with crooked boards and huge gaps. The quality was not even close to acceptable. In addition, they cut off the ends of the rails on the fence sections intended to go into the holes on proper fence posts, and just screwed the fence sections to the face of the PT 4x4 posts. It was a quick, cheap way to put up fence sections, but not a quality build intended to last. I contacted them with my concerns about the timeline, the construction and the quality of the materials. I received a call and instead of apologizing for the substandard materials, or any discussion about how to improve the situation, he said they would cancel the job and he would return my deposit minus what they had used in materials and a day of labor. At this point I agreed that trying to move forward was pointless and time to cut my losses. I countered that I would pay for and keep the installed materials they would be unable to return ( I should have paid more attention to this when they started.) but he would need to eat his labor costs. We agreed on a $700 refund. I am out $300 and got basically nothing for it. I went out and took the fence down myself in 10 minutes. I removed 15 screws to take off the 2 fence sections, and then wiggled the 4x4s and they pulled right out of the ground - not even any concrete stuck to them. They picked up their remaining material the next morning. Nice guys, but not profe...
