Chris built a significant addition for us which increased the size of our house by about 50%. We could not have been happier with the result, which included a completely remodeled and expanded kitchen, great room addition with vaulted ceiling, new half-bath, and a new deck. The only variation from the budget was at our request, and Chris provided quick and fair bids for the additional work. While construction probably always takes a little longer than hoped, we never felt ignored or abandoned and the project was completed in about 6 months. I don't recall having any issues with the finished product, which we still remember fondly even though we moved from that house many years ago (for school purposes). Having had a recent terrible experience with a contractor, it just makes working with honest and trustworthy builders like Chris all the more valuable.

Description of Work: Chris Sheedy added supports to my deck and also added a porch and bedroom to my son's house. We were both very pleased with his work and would hire him again.

Description of Work: Chris was the GC who performed an extensive renovation on our home while we lived there. It turned out amazing and we were very satisfied with Chris. We had a small 1100 square foot cape cod style house. Chris more than doubled the size of our home. We added a gorgeous 800 square foot one bedroom in-law apartment, complete with full kitchen. He moved the laundry up to a newly constructed shared laundry room on the first floor, added a full dormer to the front of the house (which gave us an additional bedroom upstairs), added an ensuite bathroom in the main house and helped us finish the basement. We added radiant heat in all of the new additions and basement. | |Chris was with us from the very lengthy permitting process (it took a year) through to the end of the construction- which wrapped up within the time frame he had quoted us. He came to appeals meetings with us, helped us find an architect when the planning board wanted more extensive/certified plans, was on-site most days and had a fantastic crew that he obviously had long term relationships with. His plumber, electrician and framing guys were great- they were all personable, dependable, and respectful. The project finished on time because it was very very rare for someone not to show up when Chris said they were going to. | |When you are renovating an older home, you find things that you hadn't planned on when you open up walls- things like scary wiring, moldy insulation or structural problems in the garage. Chris was upfront with us- somethings were included in the cost and other things weren't. He worked with us and with our budget to talk about ways we could make cuts or try different options for dealing with things. He encouraged us to be present at inspections if we wanted to (like for the moldy insulation) and talk with the inspector about what would be approved and what wouldn't be approved in terms of fixing these types of unexpected issues. | |The reason we have called Chris again after the major renovation is because he stood by his work. We had a problem with the roof building up an ice dam in one part 2 years after the renovation had finished. Chris came out at no charge and tried to figure out the problem- it was because an electrician had moved some insulation in one of the bays and not replaced it. Chris fixed it and didn't charge us. | |Chris was very easy to work with, respected the fact it was our home, delivered a huge project on time and on budget (with allowance for some things that we found when we opened the walls), was around and supervising his subs a great deal of the time and stood by his work. The work was excellent quality and done really well. The price was right in the middle of the quotes we received. He was a great find. We never complained about our renovation because he was excellent at communicating and great to work with. We are very happy with the end result.

The finished product (12 x 18 deck, two stairways, lattice, railings, post caps, benches) was better than we imagined and has provided with us a great space to relax, entertain and extend our living area. Not only does it look great but, has added significantly to the value of our home. We would highly recommend Chris Sheedy to anyone in the South Shore area who is looking to remodel their home using a very qualified, cost effective firm who pays attention to detail from start to finish.
Description of Work: My wife and I wanted to expand our living space by adding a deck to our home. We contacted Chris Sheedy of Sheedy and Sons General Contractors who came out the house, talked through what we wanted to do and made a number of recommendations/options. He submitted a complete estimate that detailed materials, labor, timing, and alternatives. He started the job when we requested, stayed with it through its completion and coordinated every phase (permitting, construction and inspection) in a very professional manner. He was very flexible when we wanted to make minor changes and quickly updated our estimate based on the request.
