Artwork/Murals, Framing Service
I found them on a website after trying to get a handyman to do this for months. (Handymen don't want to hang art work for some reason.) While the website emphasizes the photography and film developing work of this company, it also described doing Framing and Installing Art. I had found several other Framing Companies willing to install, but most of them expected to be working in galleries of other public places. This was the first website to acknowledge that they went into people's homes.
It took a few days of messages for us to connect and set a date for him to come and hang the work. Kosta brought his own tools and hanging hardware. He seemed to doubt the description I gave of how the quilt had previously been hung, then quickly and competently hung it in the spot I chose. I helped hold some things; he stood on chairs which made me a bit nervous. He was relatively patient with me, given that I was still deciding what would go where, and seemed to want to get work done faster, even though he was hanging one piece while I was determining the location for the next one. It took two hours to complete the job.
He gave explanations for why things might not seem evenly hung (old house) and why previous attempts to just hammer nails in didn't work (lathe and plaster walls), and offered ways to steady pieces should I be interested in that. He also told tales of previous framing work he'd done, and described the good and not-so-good work done by those who had framed my pieces. I found all of this information interesting and useful, and at times entertaining.
I felt the work done at that hourly rate was well worth it.
