Small World Child Care

I was very happy with Small World. The teachers are a very loving, wonderful bunch. I have no doubt that they provided the best care for my son, and he loved it there. The rooms are appropriately structured for the child's developmental level, there is a lovely, shaded, and safe outdoor play area. For the Boston area, the price is very reasonable (and I feel the care was as good if not better than much more pricey centers in this neighborhood). I only had two concerns. One, I was working and breastfeeding/pumping, and I did not feel that the staff were thoroughly educated on infant feeding with pumped breast milk. For example, I would ask that they not feed my son a bottle right before I arrived in the afternoon, but often he would have a bottle in his mouth when I walked through the door. I explained the whole supply/demand thing, and I understand that they don't always have hands to distract an infant who is starting to get hungry, but I did feel like I had to educate the staff on some of these issues. They were, however, very supportive of breastfeeding in general and allowed me to sit in a quiet corner and nurse him any time during the day. Two, I felt that the food served could have been more nutritious. But, they allow you the option of bringing in your child's food, which I did. All in all, a wonderful experience!
