I worked with Jeff Sisk for a total of three months on this residential renovation. Because Jeff coordinated the project - it went very smoothly from start to finish. It was a stressful process but his presence has a calming effect, which helped me tremendously. Jeff is moving from the Boston area (where I live) to Boca Raton, Florida in January where he will continue his career. Boston will miss him. Boca Raton will be very lucky to have him.
Description of Work: I have renovated two homes within the last six years. I am renovating my third and Jeff Sisk has served as my general contractor, carpenter and all around 'can do anything' man on this particular project. Jeff was recommended to me by a friend who is a renovation specialist who focuses on designing residential spaces. I have worked with many contractors over the years and I have a good deal of experience in this arena. Jeff is unquestionably the best. He is an excellent general contractor, carpenter, builder and fixer of all things, including the unfixable. His carpentry skills are superior to all of the carpenters I have worked with in the past and that says a great deal as I am very particular. Descriptions of specific projects: 1. My present renovation has three floors and virtually no storage or closet space. The stairwell has very high ceilings and an incredible amount of wasted space. Jeff recommended that I consider building a bedroom closet by using the space in the stairwell. I thought it was an excellent idea. Now I have a wonderfully designed closet which makes the most of the potential storage and the stairwell still maintains a large sense of space. I am very happy with this. Many friends have remarked on the efficient design of this closet. Jeff also built a floor to ceiling closet on the first floor, which is perfect for the space and beautifully built. 2. Jeff put together all of my kitchen cabinets and they were perfectly installed. 3. I enjoyed discussing options with Jeff and we talked a great deal about the fact that the stairwells were blocked by walls that made the space feel 'closed in.' Jeff suggested that we remove parts of the wall and create more modern railings. I loved his idea. Jeff removed parts of the walls that enclosed the stairs. He came up with a beautiful mahogony rail with steel balistrades and it is gorgeous. It is beautiful to look at and it opened the space perfectly. I could not be happier with the results. 4. Jeff installed hardwood floors on the third floor and they are perfect. 5. With regard to large renovation projects, Jeff coordinated all the work with other contractors and everything went so smoothly. He communicates and works well with all kinds of people and this is a skill that I feel I must remark upon because in my experience, I have seen relationships between contractors (plumbers, electricians, plasterers, painters) fall into chaos without proper coordination, respect and attention to timing. You cannot have your painter working at the same time your carpenter is cutting wood and creating boatloads of dust. Such a thing would never happen with Jeff at the helm. Jeff has a keen sense of design and he makes recommendations based upon his experience, but also with a sharp and thoughtful eye regarding his client's tastes. He takes the necessary time to understand his client's vision and that is a rare quality. He is meticulous in all things and his rates are very reasonable. He is professional, straightforward, trustworthy, reliable, patient, honest, highly skilled and talented and he has the best work ethic I have ever encountered in any field. When things go wrong - and they always do in a large renovation - Jeff remains calm. In short, I recommend Jeff Sisk highly for any renovation or building project. He is absolutely wonderful to work with.
