Blackwell's Stained & Leaded Glass

We bought a 100+ year old house with a formerly lovely stained glass panel that was in sad shape. I was worried it might be unsalvageable, as it was buckling, had a quarter-sized hole in one panel, and was held together with Scotch tape. There aren't a lot of stained glass specialists out there, and the other one I contacted wanted nearly three times as much money for the same job, and were downright rude. Cathryn took the window back to her workshop and made it better than new, restoring and replacing each section and completely re-leading the window. She even redesigned the ends of the window, which originally looked like plain glass had been slapped on in order to extend it. She found glass matching other parts of the pattern and incorporated a beautiful extension that looked like it had always been there. It's so much more beautiful than before, and far less drafty! All this and she was nice to our dog, too.

It went really well. I hired Cathryn to repair a window at my parents' home. I guess fall is a busy time for window repair because it took a few weeks for the work to get started, but she did keep us posted as to her schedule/availability. Honestly, I wasn't sure the window could be fixed but in the end the window's appearance exceeded my expectations.

I contacted Cathryn via email and she got back to me, almost immediately (within a couple hours.) I explained in advance what I wanted and set up an appointment later that week for Cathryn to measure the windows and discuss options.... By early the next week she put together a sample drawing of the windows and I went to her studio (out of curriosity) and we selected the different kinds of glass together and prices. Within two weeks the windows were fully installed!
