I went there 3 times. They came out after 15-20 minutes and said that the dog was okay. I came back and they just said the same thing. I was frustrated. There were no complete check up. The morning of 28 the dog was dying. If they just checked the dog they could treat him. They did not gave me an estimate. They did not do what I asked for. They did not care. They did not listened to me, I hated this place.

Please avoid this place- all they care about is money. This was my 3 day nightmare. I took my dog in on 6/9 as he was throwing up, not eating and having dark brown diarrhea. He was also lethargic and just not himself so off to Angell we went. I checked in around 7:15pm. As soon as i checked in, I was told there would be $170 fee for the exam but that doesn’t include any medications. We waited until about 10:30pm before we had any interaction with any medical staff. This whole time my dog is aloof and looks sad. When the doctor finally called I tell him that he’s not been eating, vomiting, pooping dark brown diarrhea , his pee was a dark yellow and he’d been fake peeing/peeing very little. He usually peed a ton and it was always clear because he drinks tons of water. The doctor says ok and hangs up. About 20min later he comes and gets my dog. He calls me about 20min after that saying he’s eating, his vitals seem great and waiting for the blood work. Great! 20min more and he’s got fluids and his blood work is normal. Ok great. He still looks aloof and sad but I’m happy because the doctor says he’s ok. We get our RX food, additional bill 230 (on top of the 170) and go on our way. This morning 6/10, he looks awful. He’s refusing to eat anything I offer and drooling everywhere. I give him some water and hope he’s just coming off the anti-nausea medication. But he gets worse, he’s drooling a lot more, not walking right and still refusing to eat. I call Angell back and they say the doctor will call me. I wait 30min and the doctor calls back. I tell him what’s going on and he says he’s going to run a comprehensive blood test on the sample they have ASAP. Another 30min goes by, my dog is getting worse so I start calling vets around the area & no one can take any emergencies. When the doctor calls back, he says they can’t find the sample the took last night & I need to come in ASAP. I’m 2+hrs away but say ok. He says they’ll have to keep my dog and this makes me very uneasy. I ask if he can just do the blood test and I can keep him home he says yes but the results won’t be in until the next day- ***, why? If he was admitted they’d be done ASAP. I ask if they can scan his abdomen at least he says no, only if my dog is admitted. This is all very weird to me, but my dog is sick and I’m rushing there, speeding like crazy. When I get in the parking lot, I help my dog out of the car, he stumbles out and ****** blood. I panic, we get inside the ER and the receptionist recognizes me from the night before. I tell her my dog can barely walk and just peed blood please call someone ASAP. My dog can barely stand- his eyes are rolling. She’s blasé, checks me in, tells me to wait in the emergency area, she’ll call someone. I go over and we wait, and wait, 20min later she comes over WITH A ESTIMATE BILL and says ‘just so you know’ and walks away- what the F? My dog is motionless on the floor and she hands me a BILL! When I ask where everyone is she says they’re coming. Then the doctor calls, says he’ll send someone out and again NOTHING HAPPENS. Finally 10min later someone from triage comes & gets my dog (he’s very nice). He says he’s gonna bring him back after vitals unless something is critical. I give my dog a kiss on the head and wait…and wait. The doctor finally calls and says my dog is in really bad shape and it doesn’t look good at all . His abdomen is full of fluid, something has ruptured but they don’t know what from the scan this is about 6:45pm so 45min after I got here and 24hrs after I was JUST here waiting on the same doctor. He says it could be his bladder, could be Cancer- they just don’t know but It doesn’t look great either way. The pulled fluid out and they want to test it. Do I want this? (Yes!) do I want to save my dog (YES) BUT before they can give him anything to make him comfortable, before they can get the fluid out of his body- I need to pay 2800. Or they can prepare him for end of life and make him comfortable and send him home. I ask if I can see him, he says no. I ask if he’s in pain, he says the will make him comfortable (they haven’t yet?? ) and if he codes, do I want them to do CPR (apparently that wasn’t clear so I again say YES) , As this is the same doctor who saw him last night, I obviously have questions for him. How were his blood levels normal if he was clearly sick? How was his temperature normal if he was on the brink of a rupture if not already rupturing? He said he didn’t know and called it ‘very odd’ (Honestly, I don’t think he knew because he didn’t do any tests! How do you miss something so huge that may cause my dog to die? ) He said we should’ve done more test (at this point, I may explode, so I pay my deposit and leave). I’m in the holding pattern. They have my best bud & I’m unbelievably anxious that he’s under this doctors care. When I called to check on him around 8:40pm, the doctor had the receptionist call me back around 9pm and say that my dog doing better, his glucose levels are back to normal and he’s more alert and I can come see him at 10pm- but that’s not making any sense! What’s happened to the fluid? Where’s the rupture!? So I head back down there for answers. FFWD an hour and I am back waiting to see my dog but I’ll have to wait until the doctor isn’t busy (currently there is a 4hr wait) - it was 10:09pm when I walked in. I have surgery first thing in the morning, which the doctor knows. He came out around 10:20 and said I could go back in 5-10min. Around 1045, he comes back and when I see my dog he in no way looks better or more alert- he looks worse. My buddy is completely out of it and looks like he’s in pain and the doctor tells me he is but he’s not on pain meds because they don’t want him sedated. He’s drooling all over himself and he looks horrible and his stomach is still huge. The doctor tells me they’ve tapped the fluid in his stomach to test the fluid only- it’s not urine and it’s not septic so it’s looking like kidneys. They’re gonna monitor him, keep him on fluids and a catheter fluid plan but are not going to drain the fluids yet. I’m allowed to stay for 5-10min and then I need to leave. He has other emergencies. At 2:21AM I get a call, hes declined rapidly and is seizing. His eyes are yellow and he’s not doing well- his heart is ok but they are worried about his blood pressure. They’re tapping his stomach to drain the fluid- now he believes it’s a toxin or poison and it’s liver disease but he’s not sure. He’ll call me after but asks again do I want them to perform CPR, I again say yes, save my dog. After we hang up I realize I forgot to ask about blood work so I sit and wait for him to call back with an update. After an hour when I don’t get one I call and the guy who answers says they don’t give updates at this hour and they’ll call me at 10:30am. I insist and he SIGHS HEAVILY and says fine he’ll tell the doctor and HANGS UP on me! I was putting pants on when the doctor called me back and says that he’s stable and they’re putting a catheter in him because he hasn’t peed. So- my dog has been there for 5hrs, was passing blood when we came in and they never put one in?? What is happening?? On 6/11, As I went into surgery, I got a call from my sister that my dog has died. My buddy. My best friend. This place is a joke. Please don’t take your pet here. They only want your money. They sent us home saying he was fine when he wasn’t. They let my dog suffer for hours with a swollen belly when I brought him back. They didn’t scan him to find the blood clot on his liver for 10hrs. He died alone, without me or anyone that loves him by his side.

I've always been really pleased with the service I've gotten there. The veterinarians I think are extremely good at interacting with the pet owners and explaining everything that is happening. I'm real pleased with them.

This place is huge, it takes up a whole block. This is a animal hospital, but they have every specialist you can imagine in there. It ended up being more pricey than the other place. I thought the other place was high, I go over there and it cost more. I was just impressed. I was just so impressed with the place. They were just so nice. The facility was just so perfect. Even the staff, everybody there was just so nice. It’s like their part of the family.

It wasn't with my usual vet. It was alright but they didn't really address my concerns. Over the last couple of years it doesn't seem like I have the best luck there with last minute appointments and especially with the ER.

They have all the specialists. In order to see the specialists there you have to take out a second mortgage, but they're great. We spent $2000 on one of our pugs to find out we had to spend $35,000 for his congenital problem. We just put him on a diet and steroids and he improved. We've had other pets in and out of the there.
Our pug is in a wheelchair because of the congenital defect.
They do phenomenal work, they do great work.

They treat their animals as though they're their own. Everybody is well trained with animals and they're very gentle and friendly towards the animals. The prices are reasonable. The also have an emergency area in case you have an emergency with the animal.

His regular doctor is Dr. Burm. It's one of the more expensive places. Most vet places are expensive now. This is not just a local veterinarian hospital, it's one of the best know, one of the biggest animal hospitals in New England probably. They are open 24 hours a day. They are located pretty close to me. I often to use their little dog park, I can go in anytime and weigh him there. The quality of care depends upon which doctor, it's a teaching hospital. I think Dr. Burm is in charge of internal medicine, he's not an intern or a resident, he's a regular doctor there. I thought the better care was worth the higher price.

The vet decided to charge only for a technician visit, which is significantly much less money than an emergency visit since our dog did not require any testing and the problem was easily solved. The tech then spent a great deal of time with us and gave us fabulous information about training and nutrition. I can't say enough about how wonderful the services at Angell were. We are so glad to know they are there if we need them (hopefully Gracie will remain healthy from here on out).....

They take care of my three dogs. They have a large primary care. Everyone there knows me. I have been going to them for a long time. They have boarding services, I have never used it. I have taken training classes there. They have a shelter and a large number of volunteers. I like their expertise. My golden retrievers structure has changed. The doctor took him to a specialist. They said that he is fine. They have all of the specialist right there. I will continue to use them.

We are currently using it for one of our cats. The cat is being treated. The pricing is fair for what they offer. Some people are not going to be able to afford it, but I found it to be fair. With donations, they probably could lower the price but you are getting fantastic service. I found it a little pricey, but when it is the life of your cat, I guess you make sacrifices. Everyone there has been courteous, invested, really kind to the animals and to us. The physician is outstanding, she has spent a lot of time, and taught us how to administer the medications, and the injectibles that the cat needs, so that we don't need to take her every morning, and the cost involved with that. It is a welcoming, lovely, clean facility, in our case, the people who work there have been very accommodating and willing to work with us, with limitations to the cat. I have never fact that they are suggesting extra testing, extra procedures, or extra anything, in order to up the price. I think it feels like what they are doing is absolutely necessary with the least amount of interference from a cat, who is an uneasy patient, to get the answers that they need, in order to treat. It is expensive, but you know what you are getting. We use them when our vet says that she really needs us to see a specialist, because he is not responding well, and she needs a second opinion. If I were doing it all over again, I would probably use them as my primary care vet, because I live so close to them.
