I had bought the $125 voucher for gutter cleaning with Alexander Doyle -Gutter Cleaning (up to 200 lineal feet) Only $125! Coupon Code(s): 906840-1 Coupon Expires: October 7, 2014 on October 7. I had received a message on my Angie's List account that day from Mr. Doyle, indicating he could come today to do the job. I wrote back asking him if he could call me to confirm timing. I never heard from him. Let me give you a bit more of an idea about our property: Last week, my husband and I closed on and moved into our town home, which is an attached single family. We share a wall with the town home next store and their gutters are connected to ours. Surrounding the entire home (both properties) there is no way that the gutters measure over 200 lineal feet. When I did the neighborly thing by offering the gutter cleaning to my neighbor, I thought I was doing the right thing and being nice. My neighbor has been so friendly and accommodating since we moved in last week and we wanted to repay her for her kindness by cleaning her gutters too, since she's done so many generous things for us. Yesterday, Thursday, October 9, I called Mr. Doyle at the number he gave in his message (since he didn't contact me like I asked him to about timing) to ask a question about my order. Since mine & my neighbor's gutters are connected and run all around the same building, they measure no more than 200 feet altogether, I asked Mr. Doyle if he would be willing to clean all of the gutters on the perimeter of the same building? He gave me a definitive "No". He told me he couldn't do that job because my neighbor was not an Angie's List member (maybe she is?, She might be. I don't even know that so, I'm not sure how he would. ) If he did cleaned her gutters too, it would be giving a fringe benefit to a non-Angie's List member. I explained that we share a roof and homeowners insurance and our gutters are connected. I asked him to clarify: In order to have her gutters cleaned, would she have to pay $125 and become an Angie's List member? He said yes. I told him that I didn't want him to do the job, that I would get someone else to do it and that I would report him to Angie's List. We joined Angie's List so that we could read real reviews from real people and purchase deals on services that we would need for our new home. Because, we are first time homeowners, we don't know much about who to go to for repairs, construction, landscaping and things like gutter cleaning. Because Mr. Doyle's deal was for 200 lineal feet, I did not feel out of bounds in asking if he would clean my neighbor's gutters too, especially because they are attached to mine. If hers aren't clean, mine will be clogged too. I was disappointed at his lack of customer service and am requesting a refund for this deal.
