These guys are crooks. Paid $400 to replace a condenser pump... took guy 15-30 minutes after I checked lowes and the pump was $40... then paid another 800 bucks to fix issue on 2nd unit. They didn't fix the issue after charging me the $1,200, came back a 2nd time and said a completely different part needed replacing and that would be another $700 (for a $70 motherboard on amazon btw). Never mentioned the faulty board on the first go at it... save your money!!! Would give zero stars if I could.

The service was done quickly and very professionally. The job was done correctly. My only issue is with the price. $390 is a bit obnoxious for a basket strainer to be replaced. But the service person was very nice and friendly. I appreciated his professionalism. I'd use Maffei again in a pinch, but I'll shop around for a company with more reasonable pricing.

They came the day I called, promptly responding to the call before arrival. Before any of the projects were done they clearly stated what the problem was and how it could be resolved. All the employees were courteous and very helpful. I plan to use them for all my future plumbing needs.

It was pretty good. One of the concerns that we had with the group is that they seemed very sales oriented in order to find additional work and to recommend through some fear tactic that some work is going to be needed at some point very very soon. A second plumber that we had come said, "No, that's ridiculous". What we have is perfectly fine. We just need to make a couple of minor repairs it's perfectly solid, that's fine.They responded right away. They were able to get the plumber here on the weekend. The work they did was fine.

On opening and closing the sillcock we heard an extremely loud hammering in the water pipes that never existed before.
The installing plumber came back twice but the hammering still exists today. I didn't think it productive to have the same plumber come back again.
I will ask my son to fix it.

"Upon going out to Mr [member name removed] home to find out what the hammering noise was/is, we found that the work we had performed was not causing the hammering.With aging plumbing systems, it is not unusual for a "hammering noise" to occur. It is usually caused by an older valves washer in the system breaking apart and lodging in a pipe. We had gone back twice at NO CHARGE and made adjustments / flushed the piping, at which time the noise had stopped as of 07/25/2011. It sounds like some more deterioration may be occurring with the older valves (not installed by us) especially where it is now 3 years later. It is disappointing that Mr [member name removed] did not feel he could call us again, and needed to post this on Angies list. We would still be happy to go out at no charge and diagnose what is going on. Sincerely Greg Maffei Sr. Owner / Manager"

Went fine, took the service man a little over one hour, replaced one filter. Expect to get two service inspections a year and can call if problems develop.

Greg Maffei worked with us to convert from oil heat to gas heat. He explained all our options and spec'ed out an appropriately sized gas boiler and walked us through the process of dealing with National Grid to get gas service installed from the street to the house. He explained the details of the MassSaves and National Grid rebate programs, and prepared all the paperwork for us for those programs. After gas service was installed by National Grid, Greg's team showed up when they said they would, did all the interior plumbing to connect to the gas meter, handled the town permits and inspections, removed our old oil boiler and installed the new gas boiler. Throughout the whole process, we were without hot water for less than a day. His electrician showed up on a Saturday morning to finish the wiring. Maffei arranged to have our old oil tank removed. And the entire job site was left neat and clean. Maffei's team always showed up when they said they would, which is a big plus in my book, and they always cleaned up after themselves. They were experienceed and professional.

Everything went very well. They were professional, they took care of coordinating everything from getting the gas line brought into the house (about a 2 week wait which is unheard of), removing the oil tank, suggesting financing, replaced some of the steam lines, placed the furnace in a position that made more sense than the original ( further back against the wall). They were really good about everything. The only ding against them was that the quote did not include a make air fan, so we did not roll it into the financing and had to pay out of pocket. It would have been nice to have just rolled it into the price. But they were very patient with us waiting for the payment. Overall I can't say enough good about this company and I have recommended them to 4 other people getting furnaces done and they were all satisfied as well.

The pressure relief valve on our furnace started leaking, discovered Saturday at 8:30 PM the day before we were having family over. We had used Maffei years ago, and weren't sure we were still in their service area. I called, got through immediately to their answering service, and was quickly called back about the problem. The serviceman arrived at 11:30 PM. The work was done in about an hour. Despite the late weekend hour, he was polite, did the work well, and recommended several other repairs that would be necessary but didn't need to be done on an emergency basis. I'm still not sure we're really in their service area, which would make their arrival even more remarkable if we are not. Very professional. We would use them again for sure.
