"One of my carpenters had some issues. Although they really liked him, I had to let him go. I brought in another carpenter and he saved them a significant amount of $. I saved them a couple of thousand dollars on the project. I also went and helped finish the project myself. I even picked up and delivered, and installed gravel at no charge. The place was spotless when I left as well as the quality of work was without reproach."
"The chimney had cracked concrete across the top as well as lead that needed to be replaced. I asked her if she wanted us to fix it as leaking was already happening. I gave her the price and she agreed. On top of that I power washed the back of the roof for free. I could not make her happy, but I tried."
"Mrs. H[Consumer name withheld at their request] wasn't part of the contract. I dealt with her husband who wanted to do all the extra work. I had a contract with him and he was the one who requested I replace three times as much decking as well as repair an extensive amount of rotten framing underneath another part of the deck where we weren't originally working. The call backs on the inspection came from owners request to reuse existing railings. "I had told the homeowner that the floors would lighten up when we sanded them. I said they would be a different color than the other floors in the house. I gave her a price to stain the floors and the husband said no. I sanded the floors and they lightened up as I said they would. We finished the floors and they were unhappy with the color of the natural wood. The husband started threatening me that he worked in the courthouse and would sue me and spread bad rumors about me. The wife was kind to me so I re-sanded and stained the floors for free. And they still wrote a somewhat negative review."
"It is not true that Richard did not approve the work as we had a contract explaining that we would fix rot under rot wood. I also spoke with the homeowner on the phone and he authorized us to fix the rot we discovered. He also failed to mention that I gave him 8 hours for free and took $300 off the bill. He wanted work done for free as he said it was needed and done very well."
