I contacted Joe Cheney on the recommendation of the realtor who handled our home purchase. It was the best recommendation we could've received. Immediately Joe had design ideas I hadn't even considered. We had a limited timetable, as we only spend a finite amount of time in Chatham each summer. We met immediately after purchasing the home in the winter of 2013. By spring Joe had emailed plans, which we continued to tweak. I was very nervous that we wouldn't be able to complete the kitchen on such a tight time frame of 6 weeks, but Cape & Island Kitchens bent over backwards to accommodate us, even as I continued to expand the scope of the job, which originally did not include removing the wall from the living room to the entry hall, adding a window or renovating the upstairs bath as a last minute afterthought. When the tile person I had lined up to do the tile work (friend of a friend) backed out, C&IK quickly had one of their subcontractors step in & no time was lost. There was no such thing as operating on "Cape time" with C&IK. The bulk of the work was completed by the time we had to leave at the end of July, 2013.
I did use my own plumber, out of a personal preference, so some plumbing expenses were not included (although the allowance for the original kitchen design was included).
The difference this renovation made to the home was night & day. It could now grace the pages of a home design magazine. We were beyond pleased. This was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor, & I've had some good experiences.
Since I left the Cape before we could finish the punch out list, we completed the work the following summer upon my return in 7/2014. I had no problem getting them to come out again, even though the majority of the work had already been completed. They were always responsive to my calls & emails.
I felt the pricing was quite fair, and not overly expensive for the quality & scope of the job.
Joe Cheney, project supervisor Bill Schmidt, carpenter Mark Vincenti, Mark's right-hand man Adam [sorry I don't know his last name], John Melkonian & his wife Theresa in the office, as well as Christine Morley in the office were all a pleasure to work with, & I would not hesitate to use their services again.

They did the entire projects start to finish, design, custom kitchen, windows and all. The crew on both occasions was timely, professional, very experienced and top in their line of work. Both projects were right on schedule for the time line I was given and the were the cleanest crew I have ever had at my home. They did their best not to inconvenience my family by making the area as liveable as possible when they left each day. I was so please with the final product on both counts thanks to the outstanding professionalism of Mike H my project manager/designer. I would definatley recommend this company for anyone wanting the job done the right way the first time!

They did an extensive renovation in my house past year and I could not be more pleased. They started the work in November. There were a lot of good points, but the dependability was the outstanding one. The work was done to the highest standards. They showed up on time. I got six estimates on this and they weren't the lowest, but they were the most realistic. Their quality was the best possible. I have had renovations and work done in my house for over 40 years and I expect certain kinds of problems, but they were good.

This is a little after the fact as I've just joined Angie's List but I did want to report on the fabulous job done by this company. The salesman/designer was helpful and thorough in designing my new kitchen (cabinets, granite, new appliances, sink and flooring) and Mike, the contractor, kept me up to date regarding the progress of the project (this is my summer home and I was gone during the time that the work was being done) and responded quickly to every question I had. It was done in a fairly timely manner. He also pointed out minor issues that were fixed that gave the overall project a superior, quality fininshed look.
