Outstanding experience from start to finish beginning with a professional and detailed, itemized proposal. Eris was extremely respectful of our personal space and daily clean up was excellent. Very professional attitude and quality of work was outstanding. Project was completed on time and on budget. Very positive experience and I would highly recommend Eric Doherty.
He was assisted by a helper who seemed eager. The door and frame, which were out of line, were taken down and reinstalled. The door closed better. As time passed, I told him that I had an appointment in the late afternoon. His response was that "we are trying as best we can." This ultimately caused me to miss an appointment in the late afternoon. I think that had he kept his appointment, instead two hours late, he would have been finished in time.
When he was ready to leave he called me , not only to be paid, but to show me his work, however, even Doherty had a problem locking the deadbolt on first try. Later, after he left, I saw that all hinge screw holes had no screws in them. We continued to have a problem with the deadbolt, not severe, but still having to "play" with the key, not a smooth closure.
Days later, I called another company, Hanover Lock and Security more familiar with installing door handles and locks. Cost additional: $125.00. This was a high charge in my opinion, but necessary to get over this episode.
"In regards to this job, I was baffled to read this (bad) review 4 months later. I had my new apprentice with me that day. I had explained to Mr. [member name removed] that I was in the middle of a large addition and that I could work him in when my schedule allowed. As far as I understood he was very understanding. The two hour delay was due to rain. I had to make sure the addition I was working on was weather tight before I headed over to address his door. The door was 15 years old and had been installed wrong (racked, out of plum, out of level, out of square, no shims, and did not close) for the past 15 years. I reinstalled the 15 year old door to work properly. As far as the door and all hardware, they were all original. I just made them work as Mr. [member name removed] had asked. I'm not understanding how the screws were not in place seeing the door would have fallen off the hinges. If he is inquiring about the screw holes from the PRIOR install that I did not fill and paint; I was not asked to do so. The company he later called to fix the handset/lock ended up replacing the 15 year old handset/lock, when I had just been asked to reinstall the 15 year old door and make it close and lock. A 15 year old handset/dead bolt is only going to operate as smoothly as a 15 year old handset/dead bolt can operate. Had I been asked to replace the handset/dead bolt, it would have operated as smoothly as the one he later replaced. I had never been contacted after this job by the homeowner. When I left he was quite happy with the door and it's condition or I would not have left."
