Ruchala Chimney Sweeping

I am a new homeowner and called to arrange for a chimney inspection and sweeping prior to using our fireplace for the first time. I was also hoping to get a quote on an insert installation, and discuss our options for inserts. The fireplace is a look through type so I had some specific questions that are not covered in the typical fireplace insert FAQs readily available online. The owner sent his apprentice, and he arrived pretty much when he said he would. He seemed anxious to be gone, however, and spent very little time with the inspection. He gave a cursory glance at the inside of the chimney and declared it clean and ready to use. He could not answer any questions and said he'd have his boss give us a call. He then left and we never heard from his boss, despite calling him and leaving a message. I also discovered, after the first use of the fireplace, that something is wrong with the flue. Once opened it will not close properly again. I would have expected that to be part of the chimney inspection, but clearly it was missed. Overall I am very disappointed with the service. At least I was not charged for anything, but when it comes time to fix the flue and install an insert I will be looking elsewhere.
