on Chris Canney is a very knowledgeable professional and a pleasure to work with. 

In the design phase, Chris had great suggestions.  While not an architect, Chris had great functional solutions that the architect missed.  He was also flexible during building when it was discovered that key elements were missed by the architect (attic door, building codes, etc).  I wish I had spent more time in the design with Chris -- and in hind sight, I wish I had followed more of Chris's suggestions.

Chris tried to find low cost solutions whenever possible, although Chris's standards for quality are high (higher than mine). 

He is green-conscientious: recycling all cardboard used in the build. I had not thought of that in advance but greatly appreciate it.

The project took much longer than expected: largely due to unforeseen code issues and my increased scope ... and partly due to delays by some of his subcontractors.  The tail-end dragged on a bit, but we were living comfortably in our new home with no inconvenience. 

The project was significantly over the original budget: again largely due unforeseeable structure and code surprises and partly to my increase in scope.  It was only slightly over the contract document which was revised upon discovering code issues.

Chris sticks to the contract - which is good.  However, I wish I had better understood some lighting and structure elements written into the document. 

Overall, I highly recommend Chris Canney and Canney Construction -- and love our new home.

From the beginning, they were excellent. This is a family run contracting company, and I worked with Chris Canney. In the initial estimate, he spent time with us and submitted a very thoughtful plan for the kitchen. They used the existing space ingeniously and made the kitchen appear so much larger and also much more functional. He was unfailing professional, prompt, honest, and a great person to work with. He was always pleasant, responsive to suggestions, informative and thoughtful with my questions. The prices were very fair and quality of work was excellent. We needed to have the kitchen in working order prior to moving into my house, and he worked late to help get it ready in time.
