It went very well. Scott spoke to us about our needs, the pricing and the installation. He worked us into his schedule quickly, given that we had no A/C in June. His crew came at 5AM so they could work in the attic and they did a very quick and thorough job, out by Noon. The installers were very friendly, professional and helpful. They gave us a lot of information about our system and demonstrated the controls on the thermostat. They also took care to clean up after themselves. We're very satisfied with the unit they installed, a big improvement over the old one in terms of comfort and efficiency.

Heat pump is working well. So far so good.
I did not comment on the price - I assume they are competitive and heat pumps are expensive.

The gas conversion process is a long one... first we got quotes from a few companies for the upgrades we wanted, and we used that information to contact Columbia Gas to have them run a gas line to our house (for which we had to wait 2 months or so).  M.J. Moran was not only the most competitively-priced contractor, but they didn't alter the quote at all after the 3 month wait that we had to go through. 



After following up with M.J. Moran, we refined our quote for the additional options we wanted and scheduled a second meeting to finalize details about the installation (i.e. where it would fit, what they needed to do to pre-form a duct section to connect the new furnace to the old duct, and take some other measurements).  After that was finished, we scheduled the actual work to be done, which would take 3 days.



I was on-hand during the installation, which generally went very smoothly.  They worked well alongside a duct-cleaner who came in on the second day (even though they mentioned that they were happy he was out of the way after he left), and finished in 2 and a half days instead of three full days.  The technicians were courteous, friendly to my dogs, and kept their efforts clean with plastic drop-cloths and spot-cleaning any debris they made.  There was a little dust lying around at the end, but nothing I couldn't easily handle with my vacuum.  Two hiccups in our work included that they installed the gas line for our stove a couple inches off the first time (the stove couldn't go back against the wall), which they happily fixed with the extra tile I provided them, and also, the fireplace insert gas conversion kit did not arrive in time so they sent out a technician for an extra morning to perform that work at no extra cost. 



Another point that I would like to address is that Scott (our contact) helped us in filling out a couple rebate forms to get $700 back for our high-efficiency furnace and wifi thermostat, so make sure you look into those.  (There are also A/C rebates available, but we did not qualify.)



I gave "B" scores for responsiveness and professionalism - for "responsiveness", there were a couple times that I attempted to contact Scott and he was at a site and never returned the call after I left him voicemails.  This wasn't too big of a hindrance through, since their administrative assistance was always helpful and even gave me Scott's cell number when I had an urgent question once.  For "professionalism", I deducted a point because during the quoting phase, Scott's assessment of my heating/AC needs did not seem thorough - he did not measure any of the windows, he moved through much faster than any of the other contractors, and he did not sit with us long to explain the details of the quote and different options (he did not even offer the wifi thermostat initially - I had to ask about it).  That said, his quote was right in line with the other contractors in terms of what equipment he recommended and offered, so maybe his quick quoting was just a result of his experience.



Overall, I would highly recommend Scott and the technicians at MJ Moran!

Excellent, no complaints or issues

Serviceman was competent and careful to not damage coil. It took a number of cleanings to wash away the crud from the coil. Recharged unit and checked cooling outputs from vents in the house. The unit had not been serviced in four years, so extra time was required for the job.

This company was excellent.  Their staff was professional, competent and resourceful.  They worked well together and did good problem solving when solutions were not immediately obvious.  Their estimate was similar or a little lower to those from other companies, although it was not the lowest.  I was highly satisfied with their work and would definitely use them again.
