finish and was outstanding in his willingness to answer my questions and to respond

TKG was outstanding. In the middle of the worst winter in recent memory (in terms of damage), they came promptly to examine all the areas where we saw damage. They were able to identify not only where we needed remediation but also areas we didn't need to worry about.
The work they performed included tearing down the walls and tearing up the carpeting in the two rooms damaged by the ice dam. They had to bring in a industrial fan to dry out one room. fortunately, there was no mold and they were able to prevent any from forming. Once we were past the winter, they repaired the walls and ceilings, replacing and matching the paint, molding, and carpeting. They also found a support beam that has been nearly completely disintegrated (water and insect damage), a result of poor construction in another area of the house. They repaired that area and made sure there would be no future damage.
I knew many people were in the same situation that we were in (concerning needing contractors for remediation and repair), but TKG found the time to fit us in and perform all the work that was necessary. We found them so skilled and professional, we are using them for additional work. While I hate to have to "share" them, it's only fair that they get an excellent review from me for their outstanding work.
I selected TKG Services out of a large group of bidders, including three mold remediation companys, two roofing contractors, three general contractors, and many more potential vendors. What set TKG apart was that they could do it all--mold remediation, roof work, interior work, everything. This was important to me because the job had several complicated components and I don't have the time or experience to manage several different contractors trying to work together. Tom and Chris were a one-stop solution, and beat every price to boot. They were also able to solve problems other companies couldn't--one roofing company proposed I needed to spend $20,000 for an entirely new roof (the roof is a 30-year roof and it's 12 years old), which would have solved the ventilation issues, but not the mold or water damage, and was largely unnecessary. Another vendor said it would be impossible to replace my siding because it was too unique, while TKG had no trouble finding nearly an exact match that I was very pleased with.
The only challenge we had was with scheduling, between our need to have insurance review some of the damage and secure financing, and TKG was booked solid for months because of the harsh winter. I emailed Tom almost every other week to check in, and he always got back to me within a day or two, right up until we locked in the date. I also took it as good news that their services are in high demand, so this did not negatively affect my experience whatsoever.
I would highly recommend TKG Services LLC for this type of work, and have already asked them to give us an estimate for our next project.

Regarding the work itself, again Tom and his team showed up when scheduled, finished when they said they would, and came in UNDER the estimate! Who does that these days?? The work space was left exceptionally clean, all debris was removed and as mentioned, they were careful to preserve what they could. Would I hire Tom again? Well, I hope I never have to but if I do, its not even a question. Fair, honest, knowledgeable, quality work, said what he does and does what he says. What's not to like?
I'll add a review for phase 2 later as it was another large project that deserves a separate review.
I spoke with Tom on the phone to describe our situation, and he arrived with no delay to assess the extent of the moisture damage and possible presence of mold. We appreciated that he was thorough in his evaluation and drying process, while at the same time not opening up more ceiling and wall areas than was necessary to remove all traces of mold. All our (many) questions were answered to our satisfaction and explanations were clear. The job involved several visits and Tom was extremely responsive and professional in his communications regarding estimates, scheduling and follow-up. Each phase of the project was completed without delay and the workspace was always cleaned up and orderly. The repair finish work (wallboard, plaster, baseboard, stain treat and finish painting) was skillfully done by Tom and Chris such that you would hardly know they had been there. I recommend TKG's services without reservation: in addition to knowing his stuff, Tom cares about the quality of the customer experience and takes pride in work done right - a rare find these days. They were also cooperative with the insurance process, responding to questions when necessary.
Their attention to detail was noteworthy. They installed a new sump pump for us, which required a bit of re-routing outside the house. The re-routing meant they needed to dig up a big of the front yard. Again, you would never know they were there. The front yard looks perfect and they even put down fresh mulch in the areas they had to disturb.
In addition to the work in the basement, they installed a new laminate floor in another room. The work included tearing up the existing carpet and laying down the laminate (fake hardwood). The work was done very quickly and looks beautiful.
I will also say that Tom and Chris were both very friendly and pleasant to deal with. We will be quick to call them again should we need any work done on the house (not just isolated to work in the basement).
What a pleasant experience! Tom is a consummate professional. He came out immediately to quote, got back to us when he said he would with his quote and booked our job promptly.
The work quality is terrific. We had a slow leak with some surface mold from a vent pipe issue.
Instead of finding one company for the roof repair, one for the mold removal and a third to fix the ceiling, TKG is one stop shopping for water damage repairs.
I highly recommend their services. We are VERY happy customers!
