Jay and Jim recently completed a master bath renovation and guest bath renovation for us. They were tremendous to work with - from the beginning estimate through completion. Their transparency on status of project, answers to our questions...etc. was always appreciated and they were a great partner to work with. They were always responsive, professional, the estimate was reasonable and had great recommendations. I've already started the estimate process with Jay on our next project and look forward to working together in the near term - would highly recommend!

We love our new bathroom and entrance area, especially the flooring - Jim's tile work is impeccable. It was a unique project; we appreciated their expert opinion, while also allowing us to create the space that we envisioned. Jay and Jim offered a fair price and were great to work with.

Excellent work from Jay, Jim, and all contractors (plumbing, electrical, flooring, painting, and design). Fair and competitive pricing. Always on time. Worked with us on budget and never made us feel like we were being sold on anything other than quality. When we wanted to save money on counter and flooring Jay made great recommendations that were good value without making us feel like we need to overspend for high end material. Ran into problems (it’s a prefab house with builder grade stuff being worked on for the first time) and they took it in stride. Plus when it was clear we needed to increase budget on plumbing and electrical to get up to code he let us do some painting ourselves to save money and worked around our schedule. Will need additional work in the future (roof, siding, deck) and will definitely be calling Jay.

From the initial meeting with Jay, and through my entire bathroom-remodeling project, I was impressed with Jay's professionalism. Unlike some of the other contractors who bid the job, Jay presented me with a detailed line item quote, which afforded me options on what I wanted done as well as a milestone payment schedule. Jay was punctual, and his workmanship and attention to detail were outstanding. At our first meeting I outlined what I wanted envisioned for the project, and as we progressed Jay made a number of suggestions, which enhanced the project's outcome. I was also appreciative of his prep for the project. He covered the adjoining closet doors and the access hall with plastic to avoid the dust, and covered my stairs and hardwood floors with a covering to avoid scratching them. He cleaned up at the end of each day leaving the work area and surrounding areas in good order. I highly recommend J. Martinoli and Sons for any project.

I had a recent urgent situation where I needed to hire a new contractor to come in behind a previous job to finish it and correct shoddy work. I personally interviewed 3 new possible contractors who came out to look at the job and provide estimates. From the moment I met him, I was at ease with Jay. He is personable, professional, knowledgeable, and it was obvious from the outset that he had a handle on what was needed. He was also the first person to call me back, on a Saturday, within an hour, and personally came to my home to view the job and give me an estimate. He also has a great network of contacts and professional relationships. My situation was further complicated by the fact that the job was at my 2nd home and I live out of town. Regardless, I trusted Jay completely to be at my home even when I was not. He gave me regular updates and he answered all of my numerous questions. Not only is Jay a great communicator, he is also a good listener, patient, and forthright. Importantly, Jay's estimate was true and accurate. I did not have any "surprise" findings resulting in unforeseen increased costs. Jay and his son Jimmy, are true professionals and gems! I feel so fortunate to have found him on Angie's List and look forward to a continued, future relationship with him. I was also totally impressed by Jay's pride in his company and his work. He pulled all of the necessary permits which also gave me peace of mind that the work performed was legally and above board. Although it is recommended to always get 3 estimates, Jay is the exception! Without hesitation, I would highly recommend him being the only one to call, and to give the work to him. You will not be disappointed and cannot do better.

The short answer is I would not hesitate to recommend Jay. I’ve dealt with maybe half a dozen different contractors and he was by far the best. He’s very good at communicating, his estimate was reasonable, the workspace was cleaned up at the end of the day and he was generally easy to deal with. I would definitely use him again. No surprises.

I have had Jay and crew do a pretty good amount of work at my new home and when I say it is amazing ... I mean it is AMAZING!!! The knowledge and skill these guys possess is worth every penny. Having a crew of experts, people who have been doing this a long time, help you go through each of your projects like they were their own is priceless. Each time I have had an idea, Jay comes out, I run it by, and he and the guys help me figure out what works, what doesn't, what might even improve the look and feel and all that. When you think about that you realize how wonderful that is because each home is unique and these folks care about you, your house, and how it will look when it done and ultimately your happiness. Final call is all yours but their suggestions are excellent and I have personally taken them and been very very happy with the results. Knowing that they are heavily invested in your home and your project and treating your home like it was their own is something that is rare and usually missing from this kind of work. Gives you a real sense of security and trust in these guys to do everything and like I said, I have not been let down at all. Personally I do not know much about carpentry or remodeling but Jay and crew DO. The quality of work they do is beyond words. Every project he has helped me decide exactly how to make it right and on completion I am very pleased. I can't say enough good things about them - these are my guys from now until the end of time. So far for me they have completed 3 major projects and at least a handful of minor sized ones as well. Based on the results, I have another 2 major coming up and 1 mega project which is an entire structure being built from the ground up. 100% trust in these guys.

Jay, his son Jimmy and Adam were great right from the start. Showed up the first day and everyday as promised. We made changes along the way which did not phase them in the least. They provided guidance and suggestions along the way to make the basement remodel better than we could have expected. All facets of the project were done in a very orderly and timely manner. Jay managed all the sub contractors and kept the project moving at all times. The project area was always broom swept and orderly at the end of each day. We couldn't have been more pleased with J. Martinoli and Sons LLC.

This is our third time with J. MARTINOLI & SONS BUILDING & REMODELING. It is always a pleasure working with Jay and his guys. They are very thorough, conscientious, and skilled at what they do. I'm very happy with the results and I will call Jay again for any projects that we are considering. Just a great group of guys.

The workers showed up on time, did excellent work, and cleaned up after themselves. Our new shower looks and functions beautifully. Jay had good ideas and was willing to help us save money on items that did not need to be replaced. I would definitely hire him again for another project.

I hired Jay for this project without hesitation after the first remodeling job he performed at our home a few years ago. It was a huge job (to me anyway) and Jay along with his crew were there every day (weather permitting) 8 AM sharp! Jay took the time to discuss the options (vinyl vs Hardie planks) before we decided on the latter. His crew is courteous, professional and respectful of the property making sure to cleanup debris at the end of each day. After years of dealing with leaky outside faucets, Jay contacted his Plumber to replace with frost free faucets!. I couldn't be happier with the outcome and will hire him again when my husband finally gives in to that new kitchen I've been wanting! : )

Jay is very nice and everyone that works for or with Jay are friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable alone in the house with the workers or leaving the key for them when I wasn't home. From putting up with some changes I wanted, to waiting for the tub I ordered to come in, to me adding on other things, to putting up with my dog that barked every time they walked by. They kept working and did a great job. Jay made some recommendations that I hadn't thought of that ended up working well with the projects. I am very happy with my new rooms! I have recommended Martinoli and Son's to friends and will be hiring them again.

Jay and his crew are very good to work with. We really weren't sure what we wanted at first, but Jay was very helpful in terms of giving us ideas on what we could do. The completed project looks perfect! It was always easy to get in touch with him, and to communicate with him and his crew. Even after we ran into issues with the door/frame combo we had ordered (which meant a lot of extra work for them) Jay didn't charge us extra for the work to complete the project. We are very happy with his work, and would recommend him to anyone.

Jay and his crew delivered all services in a timely manner. All aspects of this project were well communicated. No delays in the project throughout. When Jay said a plumber or electrician would be at the house on a certain day - they were. He is a man of his word. And clean! The crew cleaned up each day allowing us to come home and not have to worry about dust or muddy footprints. We are beyond happy with the quality of the work and the responsiveness to help fix a few minor issues upon completion! We will highly recommend Martinoli and plan to call upon him for any future projects!

J Martinoli was terrific to work with. Jay came out several times and worked out a quote that covered all aspects of the project. Re-writing it a few times to make sure we captured the right costs. He was very informative throughout the entire process and even came on a Sunday when we were confused how the final land grade was going to be finished. Some of the job was contracted out, but Jay professionally oversaw all subs and communicated everything to us clearly. When the Martinoli team was on site, every contact was courteous and professional. This was a long process to find a contractor willing to take the complicated job. We were blessed to find Jay and his team. They made a very stressful situation more manageable. Their level of detail and attention was exacting and they were great to work with. I will clearly be using Martinoli and Sons for any future projects needed. I highly recommend them to all!

When the person came to check out what needed to be done told my son it would be an additional 1800.00 to put lattice around stairs . My son declined he then asked to have 2 storm doors and ice maker hooked up the person told him it would be another 450.00 I paid for 4 hours of labor and I know it does not take 4 hours to put storm doors on . Its not a company I would choose to do business with. This was a gift to my son

I am not sure where to begin. My husband and I have been dreaming about this project for a long time and called numerous contractors for estimates. Out of 7 scheduled estimates, 3 showed up. Jay Martinoli was one of these 3. His price was fair and he was extremely patient with us while we changed our plan numerous times to fit our budget. I run a home daycare so I was particularly concerned about safety throughout this project as well as the professionalism of the workers who would be here while the children were present. Jay was so helpful and understanding in making sure I had temporary fencing as well as a porta potty for the workers as not to disrupt daycare. I was also impressed at what nice guys he employs. Not only were they hard workers but they always showed up on time and greeted the children every morning with a smile. They became excellent role models for the children who are now super interested in construction. The quality of work was more than we could have asked for. I have never seen anyone work so hard in the heat and never once complain. Jay Martinoli was great about always letting us know what the next step in the project would be as well as always checking in to make sure that everything was going ok and that we were happy. I can truly say that all the members of the Martinoli team went above and beyond. Today is our first day without them and its just not the same. The daycare children keep asking me when they are coming back. Good thing we loved them so much we scheduled another project for October.

We'd highly recommend them because they: - worked exclusively on our project for the duration, instead of time-shifting us between multiple simultaneous projects - started the project when they said they would be able to start - did great work - suggested improvements to parts of our original plan - were professional and left the site neat at the end of each day - always showed up on time

Overall, work performed exceeded my expectations. Quality was top notch. Workers were pleasant and respectful. Work area was left super clean after job was complete. Work was performed in an efficient manner and the job was completed in a timely fashion. This was the best remodeling company that I have ever worked with! I plan on doing a lot of future business with them!

From the initial contact to get an estimate through completion of the job, Jay was not only punctual in our meetings but he also kept a clear line of communication going through the whole project.  He never "went dark" as some contractors are known to do, especially in challenging times during a project.  Just as importantly, Jay's whole team reflected his high level of professionalism not only in their interactions with us but also in the details like cleaning up after each day's work.  I felt it was important to raise this first because the ability to work with a contractor can make or break a project or, at the very least, impact your satisfaction with the results.
Equally important is the quality of the work done and Jay and his team get top marks for this one as well.  It is also important to understand that this was not a traditional rectangular deck on the back of a house.  This was a large, two-level deck with five entry/exit points with stairs and where the lower deck surrounds half of a 18'x33' oval above ground pool.  Their attention to detail was apparent throughout the whole project but is visibly apparent where the deck meets the pool.  Jay consulted with me on the size of the gap between the edge of the deck and rim of the pool because that makes a world of difference when you're trying to get a pool cover on for the winter. (By the way, since it is winter as of this writing, it's worth noting that the gap worked out perfectly since the pool cover went on in minutes.)  The deck edging at the rim of the pool not only had the exact gap I was looking for but it precisely followed the outline of the pool, including the pool's support posts.  Since we were using pre-stained decking, they not only ensured the ends of the deck planks were stained after being cut but they also sanded and rounded the edges to avoid splinters and gouges on swimmers' feet.  Another key detail that impressed me was a custom-built access panel to the pool's skimmer.  In a spell of short-sightedness on my part when I had the pool installed last year, I had the skimmer installed on the end of the pool that would end up being covered by the deck this year.  As every pool owner knows, you need to have access to the pool's skimmer so you can clear debris from the strainer.  Jay's team conquered that challenge by building supports around the pool's skimmer and creating an access panel that allowed access to the skimmer just below the deck's surface.  However, they didn't take the easy route and simply cover it with a rectangular sheet of wood and call it day.  They customized the panel by using the deck planking itself built in such a way that it precisely followed the lines of the rest of the deck.  This panel was a work of art because it just beautifully blended in with the rest of the deck to maintain its visual appeal (especially those edges!).  They also factored in safety by supporting it with studs that can transfer a person's weight to the support beams underneath so swimmers can safely step right on the panel as they get in and out of the pool.   All this detail work was one of the longest parts of the project but it generated a significant gap ... the one in my mouth when my jaw dropped as I admired the stunning results of the finished product.  
One final note worth mentioning.  After the project was completed and the building inspector performed his final inspection, he dinged us on the height of the latch on three gates.  This was a total nit-pick because it involved some interpretation of the starting point of the height measurement given their proximity to the top stair.  I really wanted to argue with the inspector but we all know how that would turn out so I reluctantly called Jay about it.  He jumped on it right away and ordered up latch extension kits and got them installed ASAP which got us final approval from the inspector just a few days later.  The point is that Jay ensured the job was complete right down to the last detail.  As a funny side note, the building inspector himself was impressed with the deck and referred to it as "the Taj Mahal of decks".
Given the complexity of this deck structure with all it's gates, stairs, rails, transitions, lattice work, etc, there are lots more examples of Jay and team's quality and attention to detail like the ones above.  The only way I can sum it up is to say that the work on this deck surpasses good quality carpentry and rises to the level of masterful craftsmanship.  I would highly recommend J. Martinoli & Sons without hesitation.

It was a lengthy project that lasted a few months this summer. This was to be expected since there were many parts to the project that involved the same people performing the labor along with us ordering, buying/picking up bathroom fixtures, tiles, doors, etc. It was well worth the time it took!
The cost listed was mainly for  labor and a few supplies such as wood, interior plumbing parts, etc.  The designs for the bathrooms were ours as were the selection of all fixtures. Thus, we had to work closely with Jay, the owner,  and his crew. They were accessible, approachable and professional at all times. Their workmanship was excellent. We always knew the schedule for the week ahead of time. Workers showed up promptly at the promised times. Questions and concerns were discussed daily. The house, garage and yard were left clean and tidy at the end of each work session.
There were a few times when something wasn't quite right. It only took a brief conversation with Jay and the problem was remedied in short time. After the project's completion, we had a very small leak in October under one of the sinks. Bruce, the plumber for the company, was there within a day and fixed it without  charge because it was the right thing to do. Having bought our home under construction, we know not all contractors would do that.
Jay is a patient and fair person to do business with. He and his crew are trustworthy, polite, and hardworking. Every part of the project met or exceeded our expectations! We especially love our new spectacular master bathroom. And, the price was right. We had 6 estimates for the various jobs and Jay's were comparable or less for each part. 
We would definitely use J. MARTINOLI & SONS BUILDING & REMODELING again for just about any interior remodeling project and highly recommend them to you!
