Initially, Roger was very responsive, came, did the job, and that was that. The first thing we noticed that was troublesome was that the first afternoon, he finished for the day and left our yard and driveway a complete mess, which to me is unprofessional. When the job was finished, we noticed the clean-up job was terrible- there were nails and pieces of shingle all over our yard. Two months later and we are still cleaning up after him. Next, he told us he would re-flash our chimney- he didn't. When questioned about it, he told us that he didn?t do it and we would have to hire a masonry if we wanted it done, and left our chimney sloppily tarred over. He didn?t explain why, he just told us that he didn?t do that (this was after we had signed a paper with the words ?re-flash chimney? typed on it, saying that it was one of the things he would do). After this, several weeks ago, we had an energy audit scheduled. The guy came in and went up to our attic. He came back down and questioned us about our roof because we had mentioned that we had recently had it done. He asked us if the roofers had installed a ridge vent. We said they did. He told us that they didn't. He then proceeded to show us how there was no ridge vent cut, and immediately we called Roger, who didn't return our calls for 2 days. Once we finally got in touch with him, it took him another day to come over to "look" at the attic. He came, shined a flashlight up in the attic and I spoke with him, telling him that it was unacceptable that the ridge vent was not completed. He said that "the other guy" that was on the job "did the ridge vent" and that he trusted his work and didn't check the work personally. Without even looking at it close up, he agreed to come back in a week to fix it, which tells me that he already knew about the situation (that the ridge vent was never cut) and that he was caught in a lie. So, we scheduled him to come fix it. In the meantime, we had a bathroom fan and kitchen fan installed and were told by someone else (without asking him to look- he just noticed it like the energy audit guy did) told us that the ridge vent wasn?t done right. We waited for our set fix date, and the date came, no Roger. We called. No Roger. We waited. No Roger. He finally called us back and told us he was having ?truck problems.? When questioned about why he never answered or returned our calls, he claimed he never received them. At this point, he told us he would come over at another date, and, shockingly, never showed up, never called, nothing. We are done with him. It?s too late in the season to do anything about it now anyway, and really at this point, the only thing I can do is make sure that nobody else goes through this same situation. The price may be right, but trust me, in this case, you get what you pay for- which ain?t worth it.
