As a 14 year customer, it is sad to see HPHC in operation. Perhaps it was an ownership change but our first problem was when we returned to our home on a December Sunday: no heat and it was 50 and falling. We called the advertised "24/7 Emergency" service. And called and called and called. No one showed up for 24 hours. We are loyal customers, so we excused that. Now, for two weeks (and two heat spells, the third starting) we have been without a/c. A service tech came out, confirmed that our first floor unit had to be replaced and told us he would have his office give us a quote on price and installation time. We never got a call and when we did, we were treated as if we "misunderstood" the tech and had just sat in the heat but we DID get a new appointment for another person to show up to give us an estimate and, no, we could not be told or even given an estimate for installation. Asking for a supervisor, a Mr. Willey, we were told he was "unavailable" but would call us right back. That was 4 days ago. We are done with this outfit. If you need a dependable and polite company to take care of your heat, a/c or generator needs, you should check out others. HPHC is, to put it mildly, overstetched and overcommitted.

Company responded with next day service even though they were booked solid. If you establish a relationship with this company, they will reciprocate and take care of you during emergencies.

We had them a long time and they did some good work for us. We finally went off heating oil and went to a propane heating system. Well, we had all this trouble. We were constantly having to call them because this would fail, that would fail. Anytime day or night they would show up.I remember one night it was late when the heat went out, well not that late I guess maybe six o'clock and we called them and the on call guy came out. He had arranged a date night with his wife that night because he didn't think he was going to get any calls. Then he gets a call from us. He and I had a great time in the basement and teaching me about my system and showing me what my heater was doing. His wife was upstairs with my wife having a good old time. He was there from a quarter to seven until 10 o'clock at night, it took that long to fix it. He had to replace a whole bunch of stuff. On the responsiveness, are you kidding A+!

Cathy at HPHC worked to get us onto the schedule this week so that there would be no concerns with the heater failing while we had guests. Will arrived promptly at 8:00 am on Monday. He removed the old heater, modified the plumbing and installed the new heater. Pricing was competitive with 4 other quotes that we received but the selection of HPHC was based on the quality of the work they perform. We are very pleased.

This is a complicated story, and I had held my tongue until today. We looked at 6 HVAC contractors, telling all that we live in NJ and that we wanted to use MassSave. We had a huge job to convert our house, and cottage and needed to take advantage of the 0% for 7 years after renovating both units extensively. All said NO PROBLEM, We picked Harwichport (not the least expensive) because of their best solutions for our older home. We were in the process of applying for MassSave when we got a call in May asking if they could start the work right away as they had a cancellation and had guys standing around with nothing to do. I heard my husband tell them that we hadn't done the MassSave Loan and they replied that it wasn't an issue and that everyone qualifies. They began work in May on the equipment (not electrical), and I will state that the work we received was high quality, with knowledgeable guys who worked at property for 2-1/2 days. We then finalized the MassSave paperwork only to find out that if you live out-of-state we did not qualify. No one at Harwichport seemed to know that and could have cared less, and now we were on the hook for $22K immediately, and they would not finish the electrical until we paid them. It was a royal fight and the first week of July, with renters already in our home they finally did the work after we borrowed emergency money (as much as we could). We were not happy with the situation and they were very condescending to us demanding money and with attitude. Fast forward and we have paid in full, but have discovered since that they never put a vent in the basement area as was on the work order (a service call fixed that), and that they failed to seal a vent to the second floor bathroom now that we had a separate unit (I had to fix myself as the room was freezing and the bedroom below was getting almost no flow). Tonight it was cold and I turned the heat on and got cold air! We called service and the technician came quickly, but then informed us that the gas line was never hooked up to the furnace! This is totally unacceptable!!!!! We just happened to be here. We have renters this Saturday - what if they needed heat and they got the cold air!???! I had calmed down from the rest of the problems and was going to write a decent review, but here I am now to warn others. The "C" rating on quality reflects the found problems noted above, and the "D" for punctuality reflects their not doing our electrical until we had renters already on the property (2 service calls were responded to very promptly, but the install issue outweighs the overall rating. Beware - I don't think that there is a good line of communication at Harwichport, and the consumer suffers as a result. I would not make a recommendation based on our experience. For $22K you expect a complete and accurate job!

The company provided a plumber to perform the work to fit my demanding schedule.  He arrived at on time and performed the work in a professional mannered.  He cleaned up the work site and check all the fixtures in the house to insure they functioned properly.

The workers from Harwich Port were very easy to work with, courteous, and very professional. The inspectors that came by after the work immediately recognized their work and felt that there was no chance the work would not meet code.
From the initial quotation to final installation, Harwich Port was easy to work with and kept us up-to-date with schedules, arrival times etc. We were very pleased with all aspects of the work. We were treated well and promptly whether the job was a minor leak, or a two unit A/C installation.
List of jobs performed over 4 years:
- Shower valve & control replacement
- Minor valve leak
- Failing gas water heater replaced with a stainless steel lined indirect heater
- Installed electricity and heat (added 3rd zone) for converting attic space to office space
- Install whole-house A/C (one unit for each floor of the house) - this and the job above were done concurrently and required adding an expansion panel to the electrical system.
- Did all gas, plumbing, and electrical work for a kitchen remodel
All tasks were finished on time and on budget. The workers cleaned up well after the job and the quality and neatness of their work was excellent.
We would definitely use Harwich Port Heating and Cooling again.

Wonderful.  The 40 year old boiler at my son's house died on a Sunday and he had no heat or hot water. I started calling around Monday morning.  Called other vendors with little or no response.  Called Harwich Port H&C in the afternoon on Monday.  They were able to get out that afternoon, diagnose that the situation was hopeless and got me a proposal by the next morning.  They started work Tuesday afternoon and had everything finished by end of day on Tuesday.  They went above and beyond!  I was concerned about pipes freezing Monday night so they placed heaters in the house to keep the temps above freezing.  They were prompt and professional.  I will definitely use them again.  Not sure why I didn't call them before but they are now first on my list.

When I called to make an appointment, the staff was very helpful. I was able to get an appointment on my schedule and rather quickly. Because this is our second home, we are not there all the time - so scheduling services is normally a nightmare. Also, since new to the area, we did not have service providers established as of yet - Unlike our primary residence, I call my providers, they come and perform work and then send me a bill. First time customers here can either pay technician upon completion of work or give credit card over phone for first service. I was a little leary of this, but it worked out fine. Hopefully as additional services are performed, I can be billed. In fact, I have since received information from this provider for furnace cleaning reservations - thank you!
The two technicians arrived on time (earlier actually which I totally appreciate) - they called when they were about 1 hour from arrival.. Once they arrived the introduced themselves, confirmed what they were there to do and went right to work. I believe one was the master plumber and one his apprentice as he ran everything by him. (Aaron was the name I remember) They actually had to replace ballcocks and flappers in two of the toilets - and when the technician was finished, he asked if he could check all of the bathroom toilets to make sure they were ok and adjusted accordingly. They also fixed a leaky faucet in the bathroom by repairing the faucet mechanisms and adjusting the faucet handles. Very professional.
Since this was my first experience with them I was also asking questions about additional services - ie; furnace cleaning, a/c cleaning, etc. Technician was very patient, took the time to explain services they could do - I was very impressed!
PS - When talking to the technician - I mentioned that I found them through Angie's List - and he was not aware of what that was and that they used this service - which made me feel better - sometimes you wonder if they knew from the begining if they would treat you differently! I got the impression this was their normal way to interact with customers - YEAH!

They are very good and they are very responsive. They came during the blizzard in the winter and put on the heat. They answer promptly and the service men are very nice. The quality of their work was very good. The heating system blew out in the middle of the blizzard in February so there was no heat. The gentleman came out on a Saturday, fixed it, and had him go all the way back to the thermostat and replaced the thermostat. When the gentleman came in the spring to set up the air conditioning system, the guy who installed the new thermostat did not connect the wires correctly and he had to redo it. When they sent me the bill, it was on there and I called them and asked them why I had to pay that part of the bill because their service man did not hook it up right. They took it right out of the bill, no questions asked.

Once I called to schedule someone to come and talk to us about central A/C...they had someone here the next day.
Within 3 days of visiting our house, we had estimates sent to us thru email.
In the meantime, Harwichport Htg was just one of 3 companies I had called for estimates. I had estimates in hand
from them before I even saw a representative from the other companies. These guys were responsive!
Needless to say, we signed a contract with Harwichport Htg and Cooling to install central A/C. The install team was
clean and professional. Install was done within 2 days. They were great!
Everyone we have dealt with at this company has been professional and helpful.
We will definitely be using these guys when we decide to replace our heating system....which will be soon!
I highly recommend them.
