The whole process for me was pretty seamless. We all want things done yesterday ,but in reality it was not long from start to finish . Steven was great to work with. His people were always on time and within the windows of time that were discussed. I feel 100 percent satisfied with the end result. The work came out great and the space is transformed from a drab and semi useless area to a full blown man cave . Im glad i chose KAKS .

So I know a lot of people in the area want to finish their basement I say overall they did a pretty good job where they fell behind was the end of execution took about eight weeks maybe eight to ten weeks longer than I expected but part of that was a little bit of permitting and part of it was just that they had miscommunication on our team and just got a little fuzzy and the only reason that mattered because we had a baby and we were hoping to get that done by then so i think it was over schedule themselves but the work itself is nice and we've gotten a lot a compliments from people from the area that saw our house before our house was flipped two years ago and they saw the house before and they said wow this looks so much better than it use to look so that was a good compliment to hear. I would say that was for one thing on a higher end of their spectrum their use to doing smaller projects much smaller maybe a third smaller it's more like thirty thousand max so our's was a bigger project for them I would say overall the execution  is good the communication maybe not so good so having luckily I was home a lot so I could communicate things that needed to be done and executed correctly because it could have been a mess had I not been there. But knowing my advise is you need to know exactly what you want and material that you want they also have a show room which is nice so you could go there for your initial confrontation and you can all the different materials that they provide I would add one thing that they were really good with is they only specialize in basement systems they are great with knowing best material  is good for water proofing, sound proofing and thing like that kind of things our walls are actually sound proof walls but they also had the structure like insulation.

"Hi [[Member Name Removed]]! I had the office pull your file and they looked it over to make sure we stuck to our schedule. The project was started August 26, 2015 and we recieved the final payment November 23, 2015. The scope of work in your approximately 600 square foot space, included: building and insulating all walls, ceilings, as well as painting, vinyl click flooring, carpet on the stairs, a handrail, all trim, full electrical, heat, and a full bathroom complete with plumbing and fixtures. With all of this into consideration, this bring us into a twelve week total time-frame. It is unfortunate that we do not have any control over the town's building department (permits, inspections, etc.) or weather conditions so it is extremely disappointing to hear that we did not meet your needs. My company has been registered with Angie's List for over six years and have received many reviews from clients past and present. We pride ourselves on all size projects, weather it be a 600 square foot space or an 1800 sq foot space. We are surprised to come across a review that you posted, here, after two years of project completion."

The experience was tremendous. Steve was punctual and extremely creative with how he wanted to transform my space. I was fortunate to have Curt and his son do the work in the basement as the final product is tremendous. We use the space for watching movies and sports, the basement has transformed my home. If you are doing a basement, I would definitely give them a call.
Pros - quality of work, experience, service
Cons - I am nitpicking but they do not paint and I didn't want to have to call around for a painter and schedule another person to be in my home. I would prefer that all of the work was completed and they contracted out a painter.

The contractor was prompt and did a reasonably good job.  However, once final payment was made, they were slow to respond to some outstanding issues.  In particular some of the employees were rude and it took a long time before the owner Steve got involved to confirm that the issues would be addressed.  In addition, we have a fireplace that was left exposed at the recommendation of Steve because he had some great ideas for it.  To date, all that was done was to cut out the exposure of the fireplace with no attempt to dress it up.  We are now going to spend an additional thousand dollars to clean it up so that it isn't an eye sore through an outside contractor.

"We are surprised and upset to hear that you had these concerns, we were unaware of this, though we have never had the pleasure of meeting you and never discussed or went over any details with you regarding the basement project. The only person we ever communicated with about any part of the project was your husband. It's unfortunate that you were not involved to discuss any ideas. Leaving the fireplace exposed was the only idea discussed for that area. There was nothing discussed beyond that per the contract. We always strive to provide the best customer service, and we always want to take care of any issues that come up as quickly as possible, and expect both parties to handle the situation in a civil manner. It's very uncommon for us to receive a review like this, if we had known about it we would have gladly tried to meet those needs."

It is one of the nicest spaces in our house.  It was not inexpensive, but the quality of the materials and the calibre of the workmanship were worth it.  They kept ups posted on how things were going and did things exactly as planned and on time.  We are VERY pleased with the results and recommend them VERY highly!

I'm very pleased with the quality of all work except the painting.  Everything up to that point was excelllent.  The paint job was average
to below average.  They did not use a professional painter and it showed.   I gave them a B score because of it.  I need to fix some of
the painting problems myself.  I shouldn't have to do it after paying so much money.
Response from KAKS Home Improvement Services LLC
"Thank you very much. We appreciate your business and value your opinion. We are sorry to hear that the painting did not meet your expectations and if there is anything we can do for you, we would be happy to come back out and take a look at the areas of concern. We strive to make sure all or our customers are happy and their satisfaction is our number 1 priority. Thanks Steve!"

The basement looks amazing!  Steve and his crew were very responsive and worked with me through this process.  The customer service was exceptional to be honest.  I've worked with many (horrifying) individual contracts over the years but this was my first time taking on something of this scale.  I realized there would be some bumps along the way but Steve and my day to day GC, Chris, walked me through it all.  I learned a ton and now have a basement that is so much more than I originally envisioned.  Steve had some amazing recommendations and we applied them to the floor plan.  I wish I had his creative vision!  The space was bare bones before work began - exposed wood beams, hvac/plumbing, some insulation and just the foundation on the walls and floor.  The space is a little damp so we opted for the "system panels" on the foundation walls to allow an air pocket for ventilation between the wall and foundation.  I have to say I was REALLY skeptical and worried that it would look "cheap" but I was wrong.  The system walls look great and provide some extra insulation and sound absorbtion.  I was able to visit a space the company had recently finished close to my home so I could see and touch the system before buying it.  I was also worried the vinyl flooring would look funny but I absolutely love it.  My extended family couldn't believe how great it looks.  Love that it is 100% waterproof too.  We plan to use this space as a second office/den.  We put in a nook for a 175 gallon fish tank and added a closet for storage.  We also re-routed some hvac, gas and plumbing pipes to open up the space.  I have a feeling my family will be fighting over it once it's furnished.  I still have more painting to do on the finish and doors so I'll post more photos later.
I would highly recommend KAKs home improvements.  They'll be my first call when we are ready to do our next project.

I could not be happier.  The project turned out better than I could  have ever imagined.  The crew was always on time and never cut any corners.  They would even come on a weekend and prior to 9AM during the week in order to keep with in a specific time frame.  The crew were very polite and always left the basement free of construction debris once a portion of the project was completed.  If you do not go with Steve and the KAKS crew you have made a mistake.  KAKS treated my home as if it were their own.  You cannot ask for anything more than that.  I will be hiring them to finish my third floor walk up once I have saved up the funds.

I am pleased to write this review of the impressive basement team of New England. Steve and his team are a collection of consummate professionals. The positive experience with Impressive Basements started with owner Steve Sweeney. Steve is extremely customer focused. Steve scheduled a Sunday appointment to accommodate our schedule. He spent several hours at our home presenting the product, listening to our concerns about a nonstandard material set, measuring and devising a detailed project layout and plan. The project started promptly as promised and very closely aligned to the project timeline. Throughout the course of the project, we were in constant communication with the general carpenter, electrician as well as Steve. Any concerns/minor tweaks we had were immediately addressed without issue. The city in which we reside required an air exchange unit to be included in the project, something discovered after applying for the building permit. This was not part of the original estimate but Steve assumed all costs with the unit & its installation. This speaks to his high character and business acumen. It was a great relief to not encountered "hidden" costs. We could not be happier with the results. The basement has become our favorite room in the house. The system is cozy and warm. We spend the great majority of our at home family time enjoying our new basement. A big thank you to the entire Impressive Basement team!

They were excellent. We had no issues. They were prompt, did what they said they would do when they said they would do it, and were clean. The workman were professional and respectful of my home. I have had the system now for a while and have gone through all seasons and have had no issues.

Very easy and on time. They never came to me with another price quote, they always stuck to their price even if something didn't work out like they planned. I paid only what was originally quoted, and they worked with me on that too to make it affordable.
