This is the second time I have used Almar for a project at my house within a year. Our deck project involved resurfacing our existing medium-sized deck and railings with Azek decking a white composite railing and stairs with two small modifications to the existing deck layout: 1). Relocation of the stairs to the patio and, 2). Small deck expansion to accommodates space for grilling. On the structural elements added to the deck, it was clear the higher quality materials and craftsmanship used by Almar compared to the original installation by the original contractor of the house 10 years ago. We were very satisfied with the overall work and the degree of professional craftsmanship used to give the resurfaced deck the best appearance it could have. I very much appreciate the degree of consultation given by Almar employees to make sure the final product would match our expectations. We very much would recommend using Almar again for similar projects in the future.

From the beginning of the process all the way till completion, Almar went above and beyond our expectations. Consulting with Trey during the design/permit process was easy and he was always responsive and helpful. The crew that was here, especially Vinnie, was professional, respectful and just extremely helpful updating us along the way. The finished project turned out better than we imagined. Almar was fantastic and would recommend them highly to anyone, which we have already done.

Their price was competitive. The job took about 2 weeks or 11 business days. They cleaned up after themselves every day.

The project went very well, at first. All preliminary work such as plans and permits were handled efficiently. The foundation was excavated and poured and had passed preliminary inspection by election day of 2014.  At this point they ran into a problem. The framer who they had hired was not showing up. I was in communication with Almar about this and they finally juggled there own carpenter's schedule and got to work on my bathroom. Once this little bump in the road was worked out all went quite smooth. You could see visible progress made every day. Almar was very accommodating with making sure I still had use of the facilities as this is the only bathroom in the house. They even made sure I had a shower but getting it servicable early in the construction. While the delay was really inconvenient at Christmas time with company and a half finished bathroom, the finally finished project more than meets my expectations. I am pleased overall with the quality of their work, the friendly professionalism of their staff, and the fairness of the cost. Will be in touch with them again when it comes time to refinish the kitchen floor.

They did an excellent job.  The scheduling was fine and kept to the time frame. I would definitely use them again.

They did a very good job but they have not quite finished yet.   But they have done a great job in terms of their communication.  They did a great job, they were thorough and did a good work.

They are very professional and thorough. They were also reasonably priced at the time. They are very good at following up after the project, even five or more years later!

The entire Almar team was great to work with. We met with them a few times to describe the work we wanted done, and he was able to offer suggestions and help us brainstorm ideas. Almar provided a clear estimate, breaking out all costs, a timeline which they adhered to, and a defined payment schedule. Once the project was started and we could better visualize things, there were a few changes we wanted to make; Almar cheerfully provided estimates for these changes to help with our decision process, and easily incorporated our changes into their work timelines.
We were very impressed with the level of communication provided. We had very frequent updates explaining what work had been completed and what steps were next.
Almar kept the worksite very clean. They also knew that we were going to be hosting a family get-together, and made sure everything was superclean before family arrived.
Overall we were happy working with them through the entire process, from first describing what we wanted, to their preparation of the estimate, to the work they carried out, to the final result.

Almar replaced all railings, rapped all columns and beams, installed new paneling on exterior wall and ceiling on rear screened-in porch. They also rebuilt the landing and stairs on the exterior stairway from the porch along with new railings. Their workmanship was excellent and well done and on time. Would highly recommend this contractor.

Almar was excellent in planning and understanding our needs, budget, and timeline. The entire process went smoothly except for a miscommunication with the type of flooring we wanted installed which did extend the remodeling process by approx. 1 week. However, they were immediately responsive in dealing with the subcontractor who was responsible for the ordering and floor's installation. Everyone we dealt with, from the top of Almar down through their subcontractors, were excellent people and we would deal with them again. The finished products were well worth the minor inconvenience, as the floors and bathroom came out perfectly.

The price was very fair, and they did a great job. The husband and wife team which owns the company is very responsive and communicative, and they make me feel like a family member whenever I deal with them.

Very professional and friendly. Meetings were very informative. On schedule and on budget. No surprises.

From the design to the carpentry and installation, this project has changed our entire home! Almar made it happen for us within our budget, within our timeframe, and with high quality, detailed work. I highly recommend them for any home improvement project.
I had an extremely positive experience with Almar. Before I met with them, I had met with multiple other contractors, kitchen specialists, and companies, all of whom had at least one and quot;shadyand quot; side to them, whether it was price, workmanship, or reliability/honesty. Almar was nothing like that, but in fact was the complete opposite. Honesty, reliability, and thoroughness was the approach they had in every interaction throughout the entire project.
Unlike the other companies, one of the first things I noticed with Almar was their respect for my ideas and interest in what I wanted from the project. Other companies disregarded what was important to me in the kitchen design, and told me how they knew what to do. This was not the case when meeting with Craig. He listened to ALL of my ideas, even the ones that may not have been the most realistic for our budget, and home layout, and then he offered his opinion. He was completely respectful and tried to make as many of my dreams come true for this kitchen as possible, and stayed within our budget. He was always open to questions and suggestions, and was willing to look into several uncommon requests I had and made them a reality.
Once the project began, I had a very strict deadline that I needed them to meet. They assured me it would be met, AND IT WAS!! No one else I have spoken to who had a kitchen remodel done has experienced this earnest and successful effort to meet a deadline.In addition, we were concerned that the dust from cutting the walls, etc would be all over the house. This was not the case. EVERY DAY, they cleaned up, even within the blocked off and quot;work siteand quot; to keep our home as free from construction dust as possible.
Workmanship: They provded a detailed contract of the work that was needed. However, Almar went ABOVE AND BEYOND the contract, to minute details that I would not have even known to ask for in a contract! Taking care to seal edges of the crown molding, custom fitting a heating vent into the cabinetry, making sure to match the existing tiles, thresholds, doorknobs, etc. with the rest of the house, and communicated all this with me along the way to make sure it what I wanted. The workmanship was detailed, thorough, and truly a work of art. I could tell that Eric and Nate and everyoen else involved took pride in their work, and worked on our project as if they were working on their own home.
Communication: Mark was constantly in touch with us, mostly via detailed emails to summarize the work done, the next steps, and to check in to make sure all of our questions were answered and everything we expected was being addressed. I often had lists of questions which he systematically addresses, one by one, and made sure I was not left in the dark at any step along the way.
Another example of above and beyond: Our project took place during the most wintry and snowy time of year. Our part of the contract was to keep a path to the house clear, but there were a few heavy snowfalls that went into the morning hours. Almar arrived, and we were not cleared and ready. The Almar team picked up snow shovels and took over the snow blower, and made the path around to the back of the house so that no time was lost in working on our project!
Almar made the entire experience worry-free and positive, with an excellent outcome of a beautiful new kitchen! Thank you, Almar!

We have used Almar in the past for a basement remodel and were thrilled with their work. When it came time to remodel our kitchen, they were our only call. They were extremely responsive and worked with us every step of the way every time we had questions or wanted to add/change anything. The carpenter we had was terrrific, his finish work was excellent. All of their subs - electrical, flooring, plumbing were reliable and great at their jobs. We honestly had no delays other than the one promulgated by us as we changed one of the major details of the job. We would absolutely recommend Almar for any remodel and bldg jobs and look forward to working with them again. We are big fans of Craig, Allison and Mark!

Almar is one of the best companies that we have ever worked with. They are responsive, professional and most of all they do what they say they will do when they say they will do it. Their prices are competitive but their service is what sets them apart. Any questions we had or changes we wanted to make were addressed immediately and we felt that they were honest and fair. We have used them now for a couple of major projects and we have no intention of ever going to anyone else.

The siding project began in mid December.

The project was completed in a timely manner even
though the installers had to deal with winter weather conditions.

The work was completed around the end of January.

Throughout the project, Almar was responsive to either direct contact
or emails regarding minor issues or questions.

The house looks fantastic and we are very pleased with the results.

I got them off of Angie's List. They just finished, but I contacted them over this summer. The whole service is about $6000, but I've paid in almost $1800. I can't comment on the work yet because the work was done on the roof so I won't know until the winter as to how successful the work was. It dragged on and on and on. I had to put in several calls to get things moving along. I went back and forth. I had some issues too. Initially I had funds and then I ran into some issues so I had to pay partially. It was a big back and forth thing on both sides. The thing that I have to say about them is that I would respond to them and then I wouldn't hear from them. I would have to call and call and call and then I would hear a month or a couple of months later. Things really dragged on and then they had my money so I couldn't pick somebody else. When they did contact me, their customer service was great and they were very accommodating. The job went along smoothly and there was no interference with me. I really don't know about the price because I didn't shop around that much. The few that I did get estimates from were all about the same. Their price is comparable. Their responsiveness was okay because they dragged it out. They came here on the day that they said they were going to come here. They were good at the time when they finally did respond. They were actually here at the day and time that they scheduled it for. The biggest hassle was the way things got dragged. They could have had this work completed in the fall. They waited till the winter and dragged it out and then they did it right before Christmas. It was rather stressful. They did it 5 days before Christmas, but I had contacted them in August.

We went with Almar even though their bid was the highest we got because it was more professionally presented, a well drawn-up contract taking every detail into account. However, they got a late start on the project and, as such, it snowed (like a foot) on top of all the materials and the work site in back of the house. The job ended up lasting at least twice as long as they said it would due to the winter weather, and some of the wood took an unnecessary beating from the elements (some cracking, etc.).

But, the construction was sturdy and came out well, the carpenter working on it was nice enough, and although the railings were a little wobbly at first, I called Almar about it and they came by to fortify them (not as much as I'd like, but enough not to call back). All in all not a bad experience, although I expected a bit more from them for the extra money they charged.

There are several issues with this contractor but I will get to the main ones. The window and door work, which was done first, came out nicely and we were pleased. They did measure the window incorrectly so they came in smaller than the rough frame opening. They built in the rough opening and were able to install the window, but made for a lot more interior work which was my responsibility. The work after this was mostly handled by a subcontractor and the communications, which had been good up to this point, stopped. The best way I can describe the rest of the work is shoddy. There was virtually no supervision of the crew and when I first expressed concerns about the work with Almar, they said they would talk to the crew but my wife said she never saw anyone from the company while this work was being done. Beyond the shoddy work, at the end there were some things done that changed from how there were done previously and I wanted them to return it to the same look as before. Unfortunately I had already paid the final payment. Their reply was, yes they could fix it but I would have to pay for it. Two other points. With respect to punctuality, my wife and I used to joke about who was going to show up or if anyone was going to show up on any given work day. Payment. I complain when given the and quot;finaland quot; contact about the last payment being so small that basically nothing was held back. They offer small reduction in price to keep the same payment schedule and talked about how long they have been in business and I fell for it. A big mistake. They are the worst contractor I have ever dealt with.

PS-They are also now doing work under another name-Cat Exteriors.

It went great all the way through the process. Due to weather, it took a while for conditions to be just right to do the work, but as soon as they could fit us in they did.

They are a great team. Everyone was professional. They kept in touch at each step, and handled all the permits and inspections.Every night they thoroughly cleaned up the site. They arrived when they said they would. They kept within my budget and used top quality materials. The addition is the most used room in my house. I would recommend highly.

They were phenomenal. It took longer than they said it would. They did the layout and everything so I didn't have to do any of that.

CALLED WITH QUESTION AND WAS RESPONDED TO VERY QUICKLY. WORK WAS DONE PRETTY FAST.
