+ 0 moreJoe did an excellent job. He found some additional stone at a blasting site nearby that matched our existing stone (and was free). He managed to creatively fold his wall in beautifully with the existing antique walls with small terraces. He fixed the drainage problems behind the wall as well. All of the materials had to be brought by wheelbarrow or by hand across the lawn. He did an excellent job! His estimate was so low compared to the others and we were so happy we gave him extra. Once he set up the appointment he and his helper showed up and worked pretty much non stop. Getting in touch or hearing back from him can require a little patience. Sometimes you have to leave a few messages. But since this is such a small town we usually see him.
Description of Work: Joe rebuilt a large field stone retaining wall near our house. We were expecting it to give way eventually because it was tilting due to water pressure. The wall was over 100 years old and finally fell during a particularly bad flooding storm. He also rebuilt the chimney on our 1860 house. Part of the issue on our property is that there is no driveway or access close to the actual work site so no power equipment like loaders could be used. It was all manual labor.
