Paul had come to our house to provide an estimate on some work we needed done which was unrelated to this service. Knowing we were interested in remodeling our master bath in the future, I showed him the current state of the room and he immediately identified that there was black mold under a loose tile near the tub. Paul indicated that he could take care of the mold problem for us and if the mold didn't extend beneath the tub, we could still put the complete remodel off indefinitely. Paul provided us with all of our options which was really helpful in re-prioritizing the work schedule. Following this appointment, on that very afternoon, Paul came through on some promised links to products which we had talked about during initial meeting. His follow-through and professional manner through-out impressed us so much that we had absolutely no reservations about requesting his services regarding this project.
We contacted Paul regarding his schedule and he suspected that he would have time the following week, but we were expecting one of our big blizzards that weekend and, understandably, much depended on the impact from the storm. Despite having to address emergency requests regarding ice dams, etc., Paul was able to schedule us in for the following Wednesday. He had to email us prior to Wednesday, however, as he was laid low by the flu and assured us that he would contact us when he was back on his feet. As promised, Paul emailed us that weekend and we were able to schedule for the following Wednesday -- despite additional snow.
Paul showed up early but respectfully waited outside in his truck until the agreed upon time. He was able to complete the project in approximately 4 hours which included removing tile, cutting out 3 layers of damaged subflooring, treating the mold, making a trip to the lumber yard for plywood, rebuilding the floor and reinstalling our original tile which he was able to salvage, and re-grouting around new tile. He was clean, respectful, knowledgeable about the process and more than fair in his pricing. (Paul did not charge us for the additional plywood.) He also took the initiative to address a problem that we were having with the bathroom door sticking which my husband had spoken to him about during a prior phone conversation and we were delighted to see that the door swung freely when we went to inspect his work.
We couldn't be happier with Paul and his work and we plan to contact him in the near future to begin addressing some of the other projects which we talked about.
"This review is completely false and a total misrepresentation of the facts. The work in question was for a total of $886.13 (not 1500) and involved installing some wireless sconces. The work was completed August 22, 2014 and payment due upon completion. The customer was very happy with the installation but asked that he be invoiced and asked me return to do some additional work for him in his bathroom. I Invoiced as requested via email on 8/23. As many times in the past, the customer did not pay the invoice on time. After several weeks I emailed him asking for payment. He got angry with me because I had not received his check which he claimed to have sent. After several email exchanges I finally received a check more than 30 days overdue. I returned on the date and time the customer requested to start the next project, I could not park near the home due to multiple contractors trucks including a roofing company, blocking the driveway and entire frontage of the home. I was never informed that there might be an issue being able to work there that day. I had to park about a block from the home which made working there very difficult and expensive. I offered to return the following day but was told, " if I left, don't bother coming back" As a result I lost 2 days of scheduled work. I again offered via email to set up another date but he never responded. Oddly enough he and his husband have recommended me to their neighbors and written previous reviews on this site praising my services. See his "A" rating review dated July 28, 2014 of my work completed on July 16, 2014. "Paul is always professional and quotes are very close to the actual cost of the project. While he may be a bit more expensive than the rest, the work is better and is overall very high quality. We will continue to use him for handyman projects in the future" Why this negative review comes 6 months after this incident can only be explained as a vindictive attempt to smear my reputation. I can only surmise that he is upset with himself for chasing away, as he has described me, " the best contractor he's ever dealt with". I've always gone well beyond the scope of work for this customer and provided my best effort even making many visits to his home at no charge to him. My account above is well documented and I am happy to provide any and all if it to anyone interested."
No job seems too big or too small. He's great to work with, always shows up when he says he will and cleans everything up. I'm working on a new list of projects for him to do over the next few months as I get my house ready to sell. I highly recommend hiring Paul.
"Thank you [Member Name Removed], as always it was a pleasure. I'm glad we got that taken care of. Paul"
"Thank you [Member Name Removed], it was a pleasure meeting you and the family, I'm glad we were able to help you out. Paul"
|1. Repaired and rebuilt a significant section of an exterior wall that had suffered major water damage from a long-ago improperly constructed Juliet balcony. Work included structural work and new windows and siding.
|2. Rerouted a forced hot air vent from an unused basement room to a second floor room that was not previously receiving heat
|3. Insulated, drywalled, and primed (for painting) two first floor rooms.
|Paul and his team repeatedly met the challenges caused by haphazard original construction and in the end left me with a better, safer house than I had before their work. I would definitely use his services again.
