Jim's Tree Service

I knew of Jim's tree service but knew nothing about them.  I checked Angie's list and saw they had good reviews.  I called Jim's and he came out the same day to give me an estimate.  They needed to remove two large limbs from the garage roof and to remove a smaller tree toward the front of the garage to gain access.  When I called him to tell him that I wanted the work done he told me they would try to get here the same day.  A few hours later the crew of two men two trucks and a shredder were here.  They quickly took care of the problem and left it totally cleaned up.  I felt the price was more than reasonable and was very happy with their work.

Timing for us was wonderful. Jim responded within a day from my first call, gave me an estimate on Tuesday the following day and because a crew was in Amherst they did the work on Wednesday. The crew showed up by 10 and worked the remainder of the day to get all of the work done; they worked continuously. The pine tree had a double trunk and was 70 ft. tall. The crew, the cutting/stumping process and equipment was so impressive that I spent much of the time watching. They did a wonderful job including clean-up and leveling each of the stumped areas. The only downside, but I was forewarned, was the weight of the equipment left tread marks on the lawn. I am hoping the lawn will magically spring back. I definitely recommend Jim's Tree Service.

Overall, I'd say Jim's Tree Service is great. I didn't get any additional quotes from other providers, but looking up my list of work done, and getting estimated prices a-la-cart from some Google searches, I would have paid about the same, from any provider.

The thing that stands out about Jim's tree service is their quick response and they did a good job.

I had several tree companies provide estimates. Jim's Tree Service showed up the same day I called them and got back to me later that day with an estimate. I had initially wanted to remove one of our old silver maples entirely. I then changed my mind about taking down such a large and beautiful tree, and called Jim to ask if he could come back out to again do an estimate. Sure enough, that same day, someone came out to give a revised estimate and discuss just pruning a few of the lower limbs off the silver maple. Just talking a few large branches really opened up the area and let a lot more light in. Jim's dumped the wood chips at the back of my property at my request (I plan to use them for garden paths). Jim's did a terrific job. I am very pleased with their work and will call them again next time I want to prune or remove trees.

He has a great reputation and has been in business in the area for a number of years. He was referred to us by someone else. He has a good crew. I think we got a good deal with the price.

I would give him a good reference. Everything about the job worked out perfectly. He got back to me quickly and he came out at a reasonable time to give me a quote. Within a few days there was a crew out here and they did the job so well that I would do business with him again.

They did a really lousy job on removing a tree for us and it took them forever. They tore up the lawn, that kind of things, so I wouldn't recommend them for anybody. Actually the boss did not show up and the other guys did not know what they were doing and some of them were first day on the job and it was a disaster as far as we were concerned. We would give them lousy for everything. We thought that they were overcharged and they did not do all that they were going to. We called their boss and told him what they were doing while they were there and during the work and that they really messed things up. We told him to call his guys' and apparently nobody paid attention. They did not do what they agreed to or put down mats, so they did not tear up our yard and the neighbors. They left big holes in it and did not clean up very well. It was all around not very good. The owner is probably busy, but he wasn't here and apparently he wasn't able to communicate with them very good either and it turned out not very good.

Prompt returning my phone call, provided estimate, and completed work as described the next day. He will definitely get my return business.

Jim came and provided me with a verbal estimate and within a week of making the decision, my trees were gone as well as the stumps!
