Home Depot sent Michael Bisceglia to my home to measure the roof. He did not bring a ladder (!) so we provided him with one so that he could do his job. He spoke non-stop about his personal life and his religion and asked me what my credit rating was - twice. Okay, I'll cut someone slack on these points to a certain extent, but when he started lying about the work, I saw red. Michael told me that the Home Depot warranties their roofing FOR LIFE. This seemed weird, so I pressed him and he continued to say it and assure me that this warranty was in addition to any manufacturer's warranty. Needless to say, when I finally received a draft contract, the warranty language stated that Home Depot warranties for 1 YEAR ONLY and only the workmanship - not the materials. That's covered under a manufacturer's warranty that may be 25 years or life, but which depreciates over time. Also, the Home Depot warranty exempts Acts of God, although this term isn't defined in the contract. Since ice damming was a concern for me (and one I discussed with Michael who assured me the warranty would cover t his) , it may be that any weather-related event is exempted even during the one-year period. Michael assured us that the people who would do the actual roofing 'aren't 1099 people, not contractors.' This was meant to imply that they are Home Depot employees. They are not: they are sub-contractors. They may be someone's employees, but not Home Depot's. In short, buyers beware that Home Depot warranties their work (but not the actually roofing material) for only ONE YEAR. Please note that this review is filed under our local store even though it had nothing to do with all of this other than referring my call to that department within Home Depot that deals with roofing.
Description of Work: I phoned for a roofing estimate; the local store took the call and forwarded it to someone who works the Western Massachusetts region. The initial meeting (to reroof a 16 square area) took 4 HOURS. The contract I received afterwards DID NOT reflect what I was told. My experience was horrible.
