The rake handle broke on heavy use.  The break was consistent with wood grain parallel to the the head of the rake.  This represents a very poor standard of construction: both the fragile wood and inattention to the design of the tool. 
When I returned the broken rake, as a test, I purposely made no request for a refund or replacement.  I was also offered no response other than. "well it is a wooden handle".
Customer service begins in circumstances like this.  It did not even begin here.

I want to support local businesses and know that managing one can be very difficult, so I don't want to say anything too mean. Nor do I think my experience is one that happens with all their customers... But they advertise materials to do kitchen re-designs, so I went in there on a Saturday morning to inquire about their offerings. I stood around for a half-hour with no help or assistance. Eventually I received help, but the representative seemed very rushed and dis-interested in my question. I think they tend to deal more with contractors than homeowners, but if they advertise retail I would suggest they present more of a retail experience. I wish them no ill will, but I will likely need to take my business and project elsewhere.
