About us

Grassmaster Plus is owned and operated by experts including a former golf course superintendent with over 20 years experience. Formerly part of ND Landscape, managing partner Gerry White offers customers the service and expertise they have come to expect with ND Landscape, while being able to sharpen the focus to providing excellence in lawn care. Gerry has a degree in Turfgrass Management and has a certificate in Plant and Soil Science. He has developed three golf courses from Maine to Massachusetts with great success and national accolades. Plant Health Care, based on the principles of IPM, is also a component of Grassmaster Plus. This program headed by Vicki Raffle, Ph.D., MCA, provides customers with professional insect and disease diagnosis and treatment for trees and shrubs as well as organic fertilization for improved soil and plant health. Vicki holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from California University of Pennsylvania as well as a Master’s and Ph.D. in Forestry from the University of Minnesota. She has nearly 20 years experience in all facets of plant maintenance and plant health care. Our professional lawn care specialists are led by Jim Murphy. Jim has been an Assistant Superintendent at Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich CT. He also worked at Tedesco Country club and Charles River Country Club respectively. He has a Bachelor degree in Plant and Soil Science from The University of Massachusetts.

I spoke with Gordon over the phone, the CSR touted on the website. He was completely unaware of the "Free Aeration" promo which states (literal from site): MAKE YOUR LAWN GREAT AGAIN! The summer months have taken a toll on your lawn. Now is the time to recover it and prepare your lawn for the colder months ahead. Grassmaster Plus will perform an aeration to enable water, air and nutrients to enter the soil. This will help grass roots to grow deeper, strengthening your lawn before it goes dormant for the winter, resulting in a healthier lawn next Spring! FILL OUT THE FORM TO RECEIVE A FREE AERATION! *This offer is only valid by prepaying for a 2019 lawn care program. Once I guided him to this promo, he said it was not applicable for this 2018 fall... despite it being labeled as 2018 Fall Recovery Offer. He ARGUED that I would get it in fall 2019 and I would have to pay the full price for THIS season. Despite him saying, "it's there in black and white," I feel his knowledge of his own company policy, and understanding of the promo, was quite lacking. I was prepared to pay for the 2019 service ($337) and the promo'd balance of the 2018 aerate and overseeding promo ($200 - $125 areation = $75 seeding remainder) but he did not budge on his failed understanding his own product. Another lost sale.

The work itself met expectations, however the customer service and communication flaws have made it impossible to continue with this business. We never knew when they were actually coming to do the work despite attempts to schedule date/ est time.

I have purchased a program to include lawn and shrubs care. Cost was exactly $3372.00 for the season. The program included deer protection which by itself cost me exactly $800.00!! Deer ate the shrubs to the various degree and about 9 shrubs went fully dead for deer damage. Gerry (owner) came over and made an agreement to replace dead shrubs. Based on this agreement I renewed the service contract for year 2013. Gerry didn't do anything about replacement damaged shrubs regardless of multiple reminders. I shorted payment for services in amount of around $900  that is approximately cost of shrub replacement. For this amount I was reported to collection agency. I informed collection agency that I have a legitimate claim against the amount due but I was reported to credit bureau and my credit score went down 70 points. So far Grassmaster Plus damaged me 3 ways. $800.00 paid for services that were useless. I lost a lot of shrubs to deer eating, 9 of them need full replacement. My credit score went down 70 points. Please be very careful and think twice before trusting this company your grass and shrubs.
