The Project should be completed as scheduled this week. We couldn't be happier with the way the entire project turned out and it was a pleasure working with Ron during the entire process. Starting with the initial visit and the Quote Ron listened to what we wanted and with his professional experience and suggestions we developed a plan. During the entire rebuild process Ron kept us informed of the progress. He took the time almost daily to walk through what was done and answered all of my seemingly endless questions.
Ron manage the project right from the start. His people are professional's who showed up as scheduled and on time. The trash and debris was removed daily and tools and supplies were neatly organized at the end of each day leaving the clean.
Ron and his crew are craftsmen. Their attention to detail shows in every detail of the project. We had an oak staircase installed. The detail around the staircase is outstanding.
This project wasn't cheap. You get what you pay for. The project went perfect. It will finish on time and on budget. The quality of all the work that went into this project was exceptional. There wasn't once during the project that we worried about the work that was getting done.
With this project done we have already hired Ron to remodel our entire Kitchen. That project should start in August.
Ron and his father started in mid January and were absolutely packed up and completely done exactly 3 weeks later! He did the project in steps that we were informed about. First came the ripping out of old flooring and cabinetry. They did it all quickly and efficiently and cleaned up after themselves every night! The floors went in next and the first polyurethane coat. As Ron told us the three coats would go on in a certain time frame. Two at the beginning and the final coat at the end. The cabinetry was installed next and his electricians and plumbers did the work they needed to do in a timely manner. Everyone we encountered was very polite, friendly and professional. We were in the midst of caring for our very ill relative at the time and Ron and his workers were all so considerate. I needed an extra project done in the garage: a new set of three stairs and a repositioned door to accomodate the width of a chairlift and make entry easier. They somehow fit this into the time frame and did a superb job building a new stairway, railing stoop and putting a new door in. Ron's father even installed a secure bar in the bathroom for us within a few hours or so of me requesting it. The kitchen was completed exactly three weeks after it was begun. Ron kept the price within his estimate. He was always available if I had a question either in person, by email or phone. He always returns calls or emails within a short amount of time. In fact I found that to be one of the most valuable benefits when using this contractor..ease of.communication and timely response!
My husband and I cannot say enough about how pleased we are with our beautiful new kitchen and how pleased we are that we hired Ross and Son Construction to do the job!
First of all, Ron Ross is a skilled professional in his trade, listens to and offers suggestions to clients, and charges a very fair price for his work, in which he takes great pride in doing a well done job. He is very honest and has integrity, qualities that are becoming a rarity these days. All in all, you get what you pay for and a job that is extremely well done.
The job was started a week earlier than planned and from then on things moved along quite nicely. Everything was well-coordinated with all the teams he had working on the project, beginning with tearing down the old garage, excavating, pouring new foundations, erecting new structures, etc. All his work teams were pleasant to have around. I was always consulted when a decision was required: pros, cons, and alternatives were discussed so I was able to make an informed decision. Ron gave due consideration to my budget, i.e. I could not afford the very best, high-end, 'Architectual Digest' materials; rather, I did want decent, good quality material and warranties, and in certain instances I did and quot;splurgeand quot; when warranted.
Overall, I could not have asked for a better contractor and the end result was more than I expected. There was attention paid to every aspect of the job, even the little details. There were no downsides or delays. My neighbors were impressed, especially those in affiliated building trades who admired the work done, including the building inspector. Ron was great to work with. He is personable, takes the time to explain things, and is very considerate. His dad, Gordy, who started the business was there working alongside who is also very skilled and takes pride in his work.
It is without reservation that I highly recommend Ross and Son Construction to anyone who is in need of a good building contractor. You will get a quality job down to the last penny you pay them for your job. If ever I need anything again, they are the only building contractor I would want to work on another project.
For the screen porch, the holes for the foundation tubes were dug by hand, to avoid any possible septic system disturbance.
Once the concrete was poured and set, the framing crew came in, built the frame, and tied it into the existing roof.
The decking was installed nicely with even gaps between boards and screening material underneath to keep insects out. The finish trim was then completed with nice attention to detail.
We made some changes along the way, but this did not cause a problem, since the contractor is very flexible.
We had thought of making the porch with different dimensions, but the contractor reminded us to take into account the space needed for table and chairs. He was right! If we had changed it, there wouldn't have been enough space for the chairs to slide out from the table!
The screens are 6 feet wide and 7 feet high, so we have a wonderful full view of the woods behind the house.
The patio area was built on a solid base and the complicated block pattern was installed exactly per the plan. This where the gas grill will be located.
The roof replacement was completed in two days, looks great and does not leak.
We are really happy with our new porch, patio and roof. We'll spend a lot of time on the porch once spring arrives.
